Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song is this line from :'and the operator says forty cents more for the next three minutes...'?

Answer: 'Sylvia's Mother'

Dr.HOOK started out as Dr.HOOK & the Medicine Show, and are one of the few succesful groups to have more than one lead singer. The lead vocals were shared by Dennis Locorriere and Ray Sawyer.'Sylvia's Mother' is a real tear jerker!Another occasional lead singer was George Cummings,he sang the 'freaky old lady'line on 'Cover Of The Rolling Stone',as well as lead on the songs 'Get My Rocks Off' and 'Penicillin Penny'.(Thanks alsuccessforce!).
2. Which song is this line from:'I've had more chances to fly and more places to fall...'?

Answer: 'A Couple More Years'

Dr.HOOk exceled at writing and singing love songs, although some of their best were often written by Shel Silverstein, including this one, co-written with Dennis.
3. Which song is this line from:'I could get myself a nose job, I could diet for a year, but I'll never be Robert Redford 'cos I'm much too fond of beer...'?

Answer: 'The Millionaire'

Shel Silverstein also wrote some very silly but brilliant songs , including 'Cover of the Rolling Stone'.He also wrote the unforgettable 'The Ballad of Lucy Jordan',which become a classic by Marianne Faithful. He was also known for his cartoons and poetry, unfortunatly he died in 1999,thank goodness some of his music will always live on through Dr.HOOK!.
4. Which song is this line from:'I guess the dance is over now, so you just curtsy and I'll bow...'?

Answer: 'More Like The Movies'

Yes another beautiful Shel Silverstein ballad, but no-one sings them like Dennis. This is my all time favourite song. Don't we all wish life was more like the movies!
5. Which song is this line from:'We sing about beauty and we sing about truth at ten thousand dollars a show...'?

Answer: 'The Cover of the Rolling Stone'

It was really hard to pick just one line from this song, they all stand out, what a classic! And did they get their picture on the cover of the magazine? Yes, back in 1973!
6. Which song is this line from:'But she was too young to fall in love and I was too young to know...'?

Answer: 'Only Sixteen'

This is a cover of The Sam Cooke song 'Only Sixteen'.Dennis really hits the high notes on this one. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert about three years ago and he's voice is as beautiful as ever.
7. Which song is this line from:'You know that it's crazy and you wanna trust her then somebody hangs up when you answer the phone...'?

Answer: 'When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman'

This song can be slightly repetitive, but still worth listening to.
8. Which song does this line come from:'Everybody's talking 'bout a new way of walking do you want to lose your mind...'?

Answer: 'Walk Right In'

This has a slight bluegrass sound to it, very early Dr.HOOK.This is one of the songs that Dennis and Ray both sang lead vocals on.
9. Which song is this line from:'Elvis he's a hero he's a superstar and I hear Paul McCartney drives a Rolls Royce car...'?

Answer: 'Everybody's Making It Big But Me'

This song includes other artists names such as Dylan, Neil Diamond, Elton John, Alice Cooper, Bowie and Mick Jagger. Written by Shel Silverstein I wonder if he was a fan of these artists or they just fit the song?!
10. The final question is about the song 'The Wild Colonial Boy', can you tell me the name of the Country it is set in?

Answer: Australia

I had to include this one, not too many songs written about Australia is there!Hope you enjoyed this, my first quiz, now on to the next one...!
