"The Trio" is the song playing during the climatic shootout at the end of the movie. The theme song charted well, reaching number four on the Billboard Chart and the soundtrack album remained on the charts for over a year.

He was nominated for "Days of Heaven" (1979), "The Mission" (1986), "the Untouchables" (1987), "Bugsy" (1991), and "Malena" (2001).
