There's a moment when all you can feel is numbness, you can't actually feel anything, and after you have changed everything in you for another person to like you, not being able to be yourself really hurts! Basically, the singer is under a lot of pressure because he has changed so much for his girlfriend that he is becoming a person he's not, and that although he tried to change to satisfy her, now "she's smothering him" and he has had enough of it.

This is a good song for when you think (or you want to think) that you don't need a person anymore in order to be happy. The truth I learned during my terrible love process is that you don't need anyone but yourself to be happy! It all comes to the point when, like "Numb" says, all we want to do "is be more like me and be less like you". I listened to this song when I thought I was ready to move on, and as a matter of fact, I was.

"Numb" was released in 2003 in the album "Meteora". It reached number one on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks list and the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks list during 2003-2004.

4. Moving on doesn't mean forgetting. It means that the fact of not being with someone you love bothers you/hurts you every time less than before. But before that comes another hard stage of love. It is very hard for most men (like it was for me) to tell a girl you're in love with her; it is simply difficult to find a way to tell her. "I Miss You", by Blink-182, talks about how the vocalist wants to be with that person and he well, misses her! Vocalist Tom DeLonge says "don't waste your time on me, you're already...". How does that sentence end'

"Don't waste your time on me, you're already the voice inside my head". Those poignant words make up the chorus of the song, and have a clear meaning. In an interview with MTV, DeLonge once said the song is about the pain you feel when you're trying to tell a girl you love her. He says the chorus comes from the thought: "don't waste your time coming and talking to me because, in my head at least, you probably gave me up a long time ago." And it's true, it really is. The pain of not knowing whether your feelings are also someone else's feelings or if you'll be rejected or accepted is truly heartbreaking.

The song has a quite simple concept, it talks about everything we feel (or at least everything I felt) when being in love and not knowing what to do with it.

"I Miss You" was released in 2004 and it was included in the "Blink-182" album. It reached position number one on the 2004 US Alternative Songs Billboard.

5. Unrequited love is one of the most horrible feelings in the world, but we need to be strong enough to get past it. One of my all-time favorite songs is Coldplay's "Fix You". It is an emotional song with encouraging lyrics. How is the line "When you love someone..." completed?

Answer: But it goes to waste

As I said, "Fix You" is one of my all-time favorites. The lyrics are incredibly powerful and universally true. My favorite verse of the song is the first one, which says: "When you try your best but you don't succeed, when you get what you want but not what you need, when you feel so tired that you can't sleep, stuck in reverse". Most of us have been in the situation described in the song. "When the tears come streaming down your face, when you lose something you can't replace, when you love someone but it goes to waste, could it be worse?" Could it?

"Fix You" is a very moving song, as it simply inspires you to move on, learn from your mistakes and keep going. According to Chris Martin's mother-in-law, he wrote the song for his wife's father when he passed away.

It was released in 2005 and is considered one of Coldplay's most successful songs.

6. When you're in love, you spend each and every hour of your time thinking about whoever you're in love with. "You and Me", by Lifehouse, is a rather simple song, which expresses what most people feel when they're in love. How is the chorus of the song completed? "And it's you and me, and all of the people and I don't know why..."

I used to spend hours staring at that person for no particular reason and actually feel happy while doing it. It's really unexplainable.

And of course, when you're in love, "everything she does is beautiful, everything she does is right". That's just the way it is!

The song was released in 2005, and it has since been used in several TV shows. It is also commonly used at weddings, because of its acoustic and easy-listening music.

7. Breaking up is always hard. Fortunately or unfortunately, as you wish to see it, I did not get to that stage in my personal experience, I never actually started that relationship. "All We Are", by OneRepublic, is a great song about a possible break-up between two persons, but how they still love each other. How is the chorus completed? "We won't say our goodbyes, you know it's better that way, we won't break, we won't die..."

Answer: It's just a moment of change

"All We Are" is one of my favorite songs, perhaps my favorite. I'm a singer, and I particularly enjoy singing and playing this song at the piano. The problem is that Ryan Tedder, vocalist of OneRepublic, has an extremely high falsetto range, and in order to imitate it, my throat has suffered on several occasions, but it was worth it!

The song also says: "All we are is everything that's right, all we need a lover's alibi". It is most possibly referring to a break up of people who are meant to be together.

The song was released in 2006 and is far less known than other OneRepublic hits such as "Apologize" or "Secrets".

8. When someone breaks your heart, it is absolutely natural to be depressed, and extremely sad. I cried until I had no tears left, and while it is very painful, it is necessary so you can heal. Being depressed is not bad, as long as you know when it's enough. One of the best songs I've ever heard is also one of the most depressing ones. "9 Crimes", by Damien Rice, deals with the story of a couple who cheat on their partners, and can't be together. What does Rice ask in the chorus? "Is that alright yeah,..."

Answer: Give my gun away when it's loaded

"Is that alright yeah, give my gun away when it's loaded, is that alright with you, if you don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it". The lyrics are not that depressing, but the music is incredibly sad, which is good if you take a moment to be sad when you need to (yes, sometimes you need to be sad).

Almost everything in the song is repetition of the chorus, but it's quite touching. I kept replaying it over and over again for like four hours, until I fell asleep, and I did not get tired of it. I really recommend it for moments when you just want to be sad or depressed, and you need to relax.

Damien Rice released the song in 2006, and it features vocals from Lisa Hannigan.

9. OneRepublic became known to the world with their song "Apologize". The song, as the chorus describes, is about when "it's too late to apologize". It is a man telling a woman that she has inflicted a lot of damage and now she wants him back, he is not willing to return. At the very start of the song, Ryan Tedder sings: "You tell me that you need me..." What goes after that?

Answer: Then you go and cut me down

"You tell me that you need me, then you go and cut me down, but wait, you tell me that you're sorry didn't think I'd turn around, and say, that it's too late to apologize, it's too late."

"Apologize" was very successful not only because of the genius music behind it, but the lyrics are also very touching. A heartbroken man cannot be heartbroken forever, he cannot be weak forever, he must stand up and strengthen up and be fine, because you can't live attached to someone who doesn't even care about you! (I learned this the hard way).

In 2007, Timbaland made a remix of the song, boosting its popularity even more. "Apologize" went on to become the biggest radio airplay in the history of pop songs in America.

10. Heartbreaks are tough blows in life, but we must learn to get over it. I know, it sounds easier said than done, I didn't believe my friends when they told me it would be ok, but it turned out to be good. It only needs time to heal. "Breakeven" by The Script talks about exactly how hard breakups are. So Danny O'Donoghue wisely asks in the chorus of his song: "What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you, and what am I supposed to say when..." Which sentence completes the verse?

Answer: I'm all choked up and you're okay

For me, the most painful part about the whole process is when you finally realize there are no hopes at all of being with that man/woman. When they tell you "they can't see you as anything else", it's devastating because before, you had something to hold on to, a small chance in your head, and then you end up with nothing at all. This song by The Script is extremely painful, and true. It says: "They say bad things happen for a reason, but no wise words gonna stop the bleeding, 'cause she moved on while I'm still grieving, 'cause when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven".

Although it may look as "no wise words" can help you, at the end of the day you will appreciate those words by friends who are trying to support you, and believe me, you will move on. I can say that with all certainty because I was there, and I thought I wouldn't get over it, and I did.
