1. Who suggested the name Free?

Answer: Alexis Korner

Yes, Alexis Korner, one of the godfathers of the sixties British blues scene. He had a short lived band once called Free at Last. Our four lads took it and shortened the name to Free.
2. Who replaced Andy Fraser on bass for Free's final album 'Heartbreaker'?

Answer: Tetsu Yamauchi

Japanese-born Tetsu joined Free for their final album and subsequent live dates. After the final split, he went on to the Faces, joining Rod Stewart and Ron Wood.
3. On their first album Free recorded a cover of 'The Hunter'. What band wrote it?

Answer: Booker T. & the MG's

This is the famous band that included Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper and Donald 'Duck' Dunn - also the same band that gave us 'Green Onions', 'Soul Limbo' and 'Time is tight'.

Answer: Heavy Metal Kids

Funnily, years later there was a band named the Heavy Metal Kids.
But this idea came from Island boss Chris Blackwell. The band insisted on keeping their name or no deal.

Rabbit was born in Houston, Texas on November 21, 1948.

Although Robert Palmer had a hit with Andy's 'Every Kinda People', it was Frankie Miller who recorded most of Andy's compositions. They even tried to start a new band together.

Answer: Back Street Crawler

After Paul's death, the rest of the band shortened BSC into Crawler.
'Molten Gold' and 'Blue Soul' were the titles of Paul's compilations.

Released in March 1973. 'Wishing Well', off the same album, was released in November 1972.
