On January 29, 1979, Brenda Spencer, a 16-year-old San Diego student, made headlines when she grabbed a rifle and opened fire on a
school. When later asked why she'd gone on the shooting spree she replied, "I don't like Mondays". She was arrested and pled guilty to killing the principal and custodian. She was sentenced to
prison for 25 years to life. Bob Geldof, lead singer of the Irish
band The Boomtown Rats, wrote this song after being shaken by this act of senseless violence.
2. Who sang "Murder by Numbers"?

Answer: Sting

Sting, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, wrote this song. He was the
lead singer of the reggae/new wave band The Police.
