This is a great song! "Cheers (Drink To That)" was the final single from "Loud", and it glorifies drinking alcohol at parties and celebrating. The song, like many of Rihanna's hits (e.g. "SOS", "Shut Up And Drive", "Don't Stop The Music", "Talk That Talk"), used sampling, this time from Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You".

Actual footage from Rihanna's homecoming to Barbados was even used for the video. Rihanna also described "Cheers (Drink To That)" as "one of her favourite songs from the album"!

"Complicated" was not a single, but it's an emotional "Loud" ballad about a couple finding each other difficult and changeable. Rihanna described it as a song applicable to both men and women, unlike some of her other songs.

Answer: Love The Way You Lie Pt. II

"Love The Way You Lie" was originally a song by Eminem with guest vocals by Rihanna, about a violent relationship such as Rihanna and US singer Chris Brown's.

After the success of the song, producers offered Rihanna an opportunity to record a version of the song from a female perspective, with her singing the verses and only a short segment rapped by Eminem. Rihanna was initially against the idea, because the original "couldn't be beat", but when she heard a piano demo, she "fell in love". The result was "Love The Way You Lie Pt II".

Answer: California King Bed

In my opinion, this is the best song on the album. It has everything Rihanna does well: romantic and sexual tones, emotional verses, powerful choruses, strong yet vulnerable vocals and influence from unexpected genres such as rock. I also think it tackles more sophisticated themes than the other tracks on "Loud".

"California King Bed" was the penultimate single from "Loud", and it's a rock-influenced ballad about Rihanna desperately wanting her lover to tell her his feelings for her. In the video, Rihanna performed in a specially designed 18 foot long bed!

Answer: What's My Name?

This romantically-toned single from "Loud" includes a rapped verse by the Canadian rapper Drake. It was also the song Rihanna performed on British TV show "X Factor" which received complaints from Ofcom due to her raunchy costume.

Answer: Fading

"Fading" is another soulful ballad from "Loud", about leaving a man after realising that their relationship will not work out. It wasn't a single, but it's one of the best performed vocally of all the songs on the album. It also includes sampling from the Irish singer Enya's "One By One".

"Man Down", the fifth single from "Loud", is one of the darker songs on the album, and a return to Rihanna's reggae and dance hall roots. It's about Rihanna shooting a man and then regretting her actions and feeling guilty. The violent scenes in the video were combated by the Parents Television Council without success; Rihanna said of the controversy:

"The music industry isn't "Parent's 'R Us". We have the freedom to make art; let us! It's your job to make sure your children don't turn out like us. You can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt. This is the real world!"

"Raining Men" was the third single from "Loud", and the only single to be released only for radio without a music video. It was Rihanna's second collaboration with female rapper Nicki Minaj (the first was the inspirational "Fly" in 2011), and it's about how apparently there is an endless supply of men in the world.

Some critics compared it to Beyonce's "Diva", yet others criticised its lack of originality.

"Skin" is an album track from "Loud", and it's a mainly dubstep tune about a relationship where Rihanna only wants to feel their skin close to hers. It wasn't a single, but it was used as the soundtrack to Rihanna's endorsement for Armani Jeans, because of the reference to them in the song.

Answer: Only Girl (In The World)

Last but certainly not least, "Only Girl (In The World) was the lead single from "Loud", released in September 2010, two months before the album. It's a dancepop track, that incorporates some elements of Europop, and was considered as an uptempo departure from the dark themes on Rihanna's fourth album "Rated R".

This great track, about Rihanna demanding that her lover give her all the attention she wants, has been referred to by music critics as a "stronger, sexier" version of her 2007 hit "Don't Stop The Music".
