Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is this legendary Memphis rap group that won an academy award for best original song in 2006?

Answer: Three 6 Mafia

Three 6 Mafia won an academy award in 2006 for their song "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp", which was the key song for the 2005 film "Hustle & Flow". Three 6 Mafia were the second Hip Hop artists to win this after Eminem for "Lose Yourself", and the first artists out of Memphis to do so.
2. Who was the first Memphis rapper to sign a deal with a major label?

Answer: Gangsta Pat

Gangsta Pat has this honor and he signed to Atlantic Records in 1991 to earn it. Sadly, they dropped him due to the failure of his 1991 debut album "#1 Suspect". With this honor, Gangsta Pat is a true Memphis Rap pioneer.
3. Who was the only female member of Three 6 Mafia?

Answer: Gangsta Boo

Gangsta Boo was the only female member of this highly hardcore clique. Sadly, like other members of the band, she left due to money disputes, but to the light side, she made good solo music.
4. Who was this Memphis rap great that made many classic underground records, and then got famous from the "Hustle & Flow" soundtrack?

Answer: Al Kapone

This statement is true for Al Kapone, who made great classic records that were very well-respected in the Memphis area, like "Street Knowledge Chapters 1-12" and "Pure Ghetto Anger", but sadly did not achieve worldwide success he deserved to have. This came when he contributed soundtrack to "Hustle & Flow", with the songs "Get Crunk Get Buck", "Whoop That Trick" and "Hustle & Flow It Ain't Over". The first song that got him cult success was "Lyrical Driveby", an indie-released single in 1992.
5. Which Three 6 Mafia member went by the alias Scarecrow?

Answer: Lord Infamous

Lord Infamous was known by this alias, and is often thought of as the best member of Three 6 Mafia. He was known for having evocative violent horror type imagery in his lyrics. He is the half-brother of fellow core member DJ Paul. Sadly, he died prematurely at age 41 on December 20th 2013 of a very sudden heart attack. R.I.P. Lord Infamous, we fans will always remember and appreciate you.
6. Who is another Memphis rap great that is Juicy J's older brother?

Answer: Project Pat

This happens to be Project Pat, who is two years older than his brother Juicy J. He first got famous for his hook on Three 6 Mafia's "Sippin On Some Syrup" in 2000, and then made a platinum album for himself the following year with "Mista Don't Play Everythang's Workin", which I personally think is his best album, although I love all of them.
7. "Da Devil's Playground" is the debut solo album by which Three 6 Mafia member?

Answer: Koopsta Knicca

Koopsta Knicca debuted with this in 1999. Other albums of his are "Da K Project", "De Inevitable" and "The Mind of Robert Cooper".
8. Which of these Memphis rappers is white?

Answer: Lil Wyte

This trait belongs to Lil Wyte, an of course awesome rapper who hails from Frayser Bay in North Memphis.
9. Which of the following rappers named himself in honor of his native area of North Memphis?

Answer: Frayser Boy

Born Cedric Coleman, this rapper hails from Frayser Bay, North Memphis and proudly shows it with his stage name Frayser Boy.
10. And last but not least, can you name all six members of Three 6 Mafia?

Answer: Juicy J, DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca and Gangsta Boo

Juicy J, DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca and Gangsta Boo got this classic clique going, and sadly money disputes and arrests broke up the sextet to a duo of DJ Paul and Juicy J. They are reuniting as Da Mafia 6ix, to release "Watch What You Wish" in 2015.
