Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "When the night falls down I wait for you, and you come around And the world's alive With the sound of kids on the street outside" What's the name of this Belinda Carlisle hit?

Answer: Heaven is a Place on Earth

"Heaven Is a Place on Earth" is a song by Belinda Carlisle after she left the band the Go-Go's to pursue a solo career. This song is from her second studio album. It was nominated for a Grammy award (but Carlisle lost to Whitney Houston). It was released in 1987 and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

A backup vocalist for this song was Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and Papas and Thomas Dolby played keyboards. The main character in the 2017 TV series "The Handmaids Tale" sang this song in season three when she was going through a particularly difficult time.
2. You likely only need this one opening line: "There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold" What iconic song is this?

Answer: Stairway to Heaven

Led Zeppelin released "Stairway to Heaven" in 1971. Clocking in at just over eight minutes long, this incredibly popular song is on many lists of the top rock songs of all time. It has been covered many times including some surprising choices. Dolly Parton has covered the song. Mary J. Blige has covered the song and the London Symphony Orchestra have covered the song. With its quiet guitar introduction, it is a favorite of wannabe guitar players everywhere, prompting a funny scene in the movie "Wayne's World" in a music shop that has a sign that reads "NO Stairway to Heaven."
3. "Mama put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore That cold black cloud is comin' down" What is this great song originally written by Bob Dylan and famously covered by Guns N' Roses?

Answer: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

"Knockin' On Heaven's Door" was written by Bob Dylan and included in the 1973 film "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid." It was also released as a single after the film premiered. It reached top ten in several countries including Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

It's been covered by Eric Clapton, Randy Crawford and Guns N' Roses. The Guns N' Roses version was included on the "Days of Thunder" soundtrack and reached number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100. The band performed their version at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
4. "You bring me to my knees, you make me testify You can make a sinner change his ways" are lines in an upbeat song by Bruno Mars. What's it called?

Answer: Locked Out of Heaven

"Locked Out Of Heaven" is the first single from the second studio album by Bruno Mars. It reached number one in the United States, Canada, Lebanon, Slovakia and Poland. It stayed in the number one spot for six weeks in the U.S. It received many award nominations including Grammys, MTV Music Awards, Billboard Awards and Teen Choice Awards. Mars performed the song live in October 2012 on the TV show "Saturday Night Live" and it is probably one of the best performances I've ever seen on the show. There was so much energy on stage, it was amazing. If you can find it I highly recommend watching it.
5. "Oh the lights dim while we're dancing Yeah the floor is shakin'" What do you think this danceable Lady Gaga song is called?

Answer: Disco Heaven

"Disco Heaven" is a 2007 song by Lady Gaga that was originally released on her MySpace page. She then included it as a bonus track on her debut album "The Fame." It was released internationally as a bonus track on that album and in the United States as a bonus track on the iTunes version of the same album.

It was also included on the deluxe album "The Fame Monster." "The Fame Monster" is a reissue of "The Fame" but includes eight additional songs and is a double album. "Disco Heaven" is an upbeat song with a retro feel, very fun to listen and dance along to!
6. "Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven? Would it be the same If I saw you in heaven?" What beautiful and sad song by Eric Clapton is this?

Answer: Tears in Heaven

"Tears in Heaven" is an Eric Clapton song that was written about the death of his four year old son. He wrote it with songwriter Will Jennings. "Tears In Heaven" won three Grammy awards, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame award, an MTV Video Music award and a Billboard award.

It reached number two in the United States and number one in several countries including Argentina and Canada. In 1991 Clapton's four year old son died after falling from a high-rise in New York City and to help him deal with his grief, he wrote this song.

It was included on the soundtrack for the movie "Rush." Clapton also made several public service announcements about window and staircase safety.
7. In this Cake song "goats go to hell". What animals go to heaven?

Answer: Sheep go to Heaven

"Sheep Go To Heaven" is a 1999 single by alternative band Cake from their third studio album "Prolonging The Magic." It was not incredibly successful, reaching number sixteen on the U.S. Modern Rock charts. The accompanying animated video was rather dark.

The members of Cake are dressed up as a Kiss cover band called Kicks who are murdered by an unhappy greeting card company employee. There are no goats or sheep in the video but there is a poodle. Sadly the poodle does not go to heaven.
8. This heavenly Loverboy song was included on the "Top Gun" soundtrack. Here's a snippet of the lyrics: "In your eyes I want to see your love again In your eyes I never want this feeling to end" What is the name of this song?

Answer: Heaven in Your Eyes

Apologies to anyone who likes it but this song is a way over the top power ballad. Released in 1986 by Canadian band Loverboy, it was included on the soundtrack for "Top Gun." It reached number twelve in the United States and was re-released in 1989 on a Loverboy compilation album. The keyboardist refused to appear in the video for the song as he felt it glamorized war.
9. Which Kiss song contains these lyrics? "Feel my heat Takin' you higher Burn with me"

Answer: Heaven's on Fire

"Heaven's on Fire" was the first single released from the 1984 Kiss album "Animalize." The highest it reached in any country was number eleven in the United States on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. It is one of the non makeup era Kiss songs.

Not many non makeup era songs were performed live once the band started wearing makeup again but this song is one of them. In addition, it's one of only three live tracks that were released with drummer Eric Carr before he left the band.
10. "I came by today to see you Though I had to let you know If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time I'd have held you and never let go" This song by Jo Dee Messina is often played at military funerals. What is it called?

Answer: Heaven Was Needing a Hero

Country artist Jo Dee Messina wrote this song after the first female soldier was killed in the Iraqi war. It was released in 2010 off the album "Unmistakable Inspiration" and was used after as a tribute song to solders who had been killed in action. Messina has been recognized by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music as well as nominated for a Grammy Award.
