Peter Furler was their first drummer. He drummed on the albums "Read All About It" (1988), "Hell is for Wimps" (1990), "Boys Will Be Boyz" (1991), "Not Ashamed" (1992), "Going Public" (1994), and "Take Me to Your Leader" (1996). After these John James, the lead singer, left the band and Peter Furler became the lead singer and Duncan Philips became the drummer.

In 2009 Peter Furler left the band and was replaced with Michael Tait.

Newsboys was started in 1985 with John James as the lead singer, Peter Furler on the drums, Corey Pryor on the guitar, and Sean Taylor on the bass. They got signed to Refuge Communications in 1987 and came to the US and released "Read All About It" in 1988 followed by "Hell is for Wimps" in 1990.

Then they released "Boys Will Be Boyz" in 1991. Then came the one that made them big, "Not Ashamed" which they released in 1992. This was also the first one to have Steve Taylor writing some of the lyrics.

Then they released "Going Public" in 1994 which featured their all-time greatest hit "Shine". Then they released "Take Me to Your Leader" in 1996 after which John James left. That's six albums that were released with John James as lead singer.

The "Not Ashamed" CD featured the "Degarmo and Key" song "Boycott Hell". But when "Newsboys" did it they added a verse making fun of "Degarmo and Key": "Rhyming pride with time with unionize." Steve Taylor made a guest appearance in that song and sang that verse.

The original version of that song can be found on the "Degarmo and Key" album "The Pledge" released in 1989 as well as "History Makers" (2003) and "The Very Best of Degarmo and Key" (2006).

When John James left the band in 1996 after the release of "Take Me to Your Leader" Peter Furler became the lead singer. After this they released "Step Up to the Microphone" in 1998, the first of seven to feature Peter Furler as lead vocalist. "Going Public" (1994) and "Read All About It" (1988) were both released when John James was the lead singer.

Answer: Something Beautiful

The song "Something Beautiful" was on the CD "Go" which was released in 2006. "Go" was released during the time when guitarist Jody Davis had temporarily left the band from 2004 to 2009. The lead guitar work you hear on this CD was done by Paul Colman. The song "Something Beautiful" was also the only song on the "Go" CD to have a music video made for it.

Sean Taylor was never the lead singer. He was the bassist for the first four CDs but he was never the lead singer. "Thrive" was released while Peter Furler was the lead singer. "Hell is for Wimps" and "Take Me to Your Leader" were both released while John James was the lead singer.

The song titled "Mega-Mix" on the "Shine...The Hits" CD feature remix like clips of several of their hit songs. It features clips of the songs "Shine", "WooHoo", "Take Me to Your Leader", "Breakfast", "Reality", "Entertaining Angels", "Step Up to the Microphone", and "Not Ashamed".

The first verse of "Take Me to Your Leader" is about a belly dancer named Isabella who stole something and then went and told all to the chaplain of a church(who's become her friend) and said

"I don't know why you care
I don't know what's out there
I don't know where or how
Just take me to your leader now
Take me to your leader now"

"Take Me to Your Leader" is the title track of their sixth album. It is also the last to have John James as lead singer.
