Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. British brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass reach the Top Ten with this hit

Answer: I'm Too Sexy

"I'm Too Sexy" topped the US Billboard Top 40 at the number one spot for three weeks starting February 8, 1992. While their debut album "Up" spawned other songs such as "Deeply Dippy" and "Don't Talk Just Kiss" that were successful in the United Kingdom, none of them would gain noted success in the United States.
2. US rapper gains success with a song later sampled by Nicki Minaj

Answer: Baby Got Back

Infamous for its opening line "Oh My God Becky, look at her butt, it is sooo big", Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" would peak at number one on the US Billboard Top 40 the week of July 4, 1992. It would remain there for a total of five weeks until Madonna's "This Used To Be My Playground" took the top spot.

While Sir Mix-A-Lot would be successful on the R&B and Hip Hop Charts with songs like "Put 'Em On The Glass", he never gained notoriety again on the Billboard charts. In 2014, Nicki Menaj's song "Anaconda" which heavily samples "Baby Got Back" peaked at number two on the Billboard Charts as well.
3. Fictional Jamie Walters band peaks at number one with this hit

Answer: How Do You Talk To An Angel

Actor Jamie Walters was in a fictional band known as "The Heights" which were the focus of the popular musical drama of the same name. The theme song for the show "How Do You Talk To An Angel" peaked at number one on the US Billboard Top 40 the week of November 14, 1992 and remained there for two weeks.

The television series was cancelled shortly after the song fell from the top spot and The Heights never released another hit. Jamie Walters would go on to star in other television shows including "Beverly Hills 90210".
4. US rap group uses a saxophone sample in this song

Answer: Rump Shaker

Wreckx-N-Effect would peak at number two on the Billboard Top 40 in 1992 with their hit single "Rump Shaker". The song sampled the saxophone from the 1972 song "Darkest Light" by funk rock band Lafayette Afro Rock Band. Other samples used in the song include the drums, bass, and piano from various other artists.

The music video for the song was banned by MTV for its sexual portrayal of women.
5. A Canadian female country singer just scrapes into the Top 40 with this single

Answer: Constant Craving

While three one hit wonder songs peaked at the number one song in 1992, "Constant Craving" barely made the Top 40 peaking in at number 38 on the Billboards. Despite all of k.d. lang's success in Canada, this would be her only song to crack the Top 40 in the US.

It was more successful on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts peaking in at number two. Surprisingly, while not overly successful on the charts, the song gained notoriety for its black and white music video that would win the Best Female Category at the 1993 MTV Music Video Awards.
6. Rappers fashioned as Irish hooligans top the charts at number three

Answer: Jump Around

House of Pain peaked at number three on the US Billboard Top 40 after its release on May 5, 1992. House of Pain was made up of rappers Everlast, Danny Boy, and DJ Lethal. While their persona suggested they were all of Irish descent, DJ Lethal was actually of Latvian heritage. Everlast would go on to embark on a solo career and in doing so, has the distinction of being a one hit wonder as both a music group and solo artist as hit song "What It's Like" peaked at number 13 on the US Top 40 in 1998.
7. Heavy metal band with a one hit wonder ballad

Answer: Love Is On The Way

Sometimes considered to be mis-categorized as a hair metal band, Saigon Kick peaked in at number 12 on the US Billboard Top 40 in December 1992. Released from their album "The Lizard", "Love Is On The Way" was certified Gold by the record industry. Following their short lived success, they continued performing until 2000 when they called it quits. Lead singer Phil Varone was plagued by drug abuse in the mid 2000s.
8. An all-female band from the UK with a Smiths-influenced name go Top Ten with this song

Answer: Stay

Shakespears Sister (named after The Smiths song of the same name), peaked at number four on the US Billboard Top 40 with their song "Stay" on September 14, 1992. Made up of Irish singer Siobhan Fahey and American vocalist Marcella Detroit, Shakespears Sister's "Stay" would see its greatest success in the United Kingdom peaking in at number one on the UK Singles charts for eight straight weeks.
9. Canadian singer achieves success with a song later covered by Rascal Flatts

Answer: Life Is A Highway

Tom Cochrane's "Life Is A Highway" peaked in at number six on the Billboard Top 40 the week of August 22, 1992. Originally released in 1991 from the album "Mad Mad World", it would take nearly a year to reach its peak. In the 1980s, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider had noted success in the US and Canada on the Mainstream Hot Track charts with popular songs "Lunatic Fringe" and "Boy Inside The Man".

In 2006, country band Rascal Flatts would take their cover version of "Life Is A Highway" to number seven on the US Billboard Top 40.
10. A cover version of a KC & The Sunshine Band song goes Top Ten

Answer: Please Don't Go

KWS (King/Williams/St Joseph) had a number six hit with their cover version of the KC & The Sunshine Band song "Please Don't Go" the week of October 17, 1992. Named after the three members of the band, KWS only released on album, their 1992 "KWS/Please Don't Go" before disbanding in 1994.

While they released two successful singles in the UK with "Please Don't Go" and "Rock Your Baby" both peaking in the Top Ten on the UK Singles chart, they never achieved success again in America.
