"Maybe roll in the sand with a rock and roll man, somewhere down Montserrat way..." Originally released on the album "Volcano" in 1979. Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. From 1979 to 1989 it was home to a recording studio popular with musicians, such as Jimmy, that wanted to enjoy the Caribbean weather while recording. Hurricane Hugo destroyed the studio in 1989 and it was never rebuilt.

In 1995, Soufriere Hills Volcano erupted, after being dormant for centuries, covering Plymouth, the island's capitol, with a pyroclastic flow.

"Don't want to land no San Diego." "Volcano" was recorded in 1979 at AIR Studios on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. The song was written about the then dormant Soufrier Hills Volcano. After this volcano erupted in 1995, Jimmy, along with several other artists that have recorded at AIR studios, have held benefit concerts to raise money to help the people of Montserrat recover from the eruption.

Back in his early Key West days, he said that he was inspired by a newspaper article in the "Miami Herald". A murder had occurred in Hialeah that involved a love triangle gone bad. The newspaper article was entitled "A Cuban Crime Of Passsion".

Took the last plane out of Saigon" "Last Mango In Paris" was released on the album of the same name in 1985 and has been said to be a play on the title of "Last Tango in Paris", a 1972 movie. Captain Tony's Saloon is where Jimmy got his start in Key West and has said that he was frequently paid in tequila.
