When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, Phil Collins didn't want to be the lead singer of the band. Collins wanted to get an outsider into the band and an audition process started. With over 400 people applying, Mick Strickland came out on top of all the auditionees.

However the band decided not to give the role to Strickland.

The band then decided that Collins should be the lead singer and Collins reluctantly took on the role.

In 1992 Genesis began their worldwide tour, promoting the album "We Can't Dance", this also proved to be the last tour by Phil Collins with the band.

Phil Collins was an extra in the film "A Hard Day's Night." He played the part of a screaming teenager fan, with hundreds of other extras. The robbery took place on the 8 August, 1963 at Bridego Railway Bridge, Ledburn near Mentmore in Buckinghamshire, England. The amount stolen was £2.6 million pounds, a lot of money in 1963. Most of the money was never recovered.
