Dolly was born in Tennessee on January 19, 1946, her father was a tobacco farmer and she lived in an old run down one-room cottage along with 11 other sisters and brothers.

"Love is Like a Butterfly" is one of my favourite songs and was performed by Dolly on her Television Variety Show "Dolly" which ran from 1976-1977. It was also used as the theme song for the BBC comedy show "Butterflies' and was sung by Clair Torry.

Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers duetted together for "Islands in the Stream" which was originally written for Marvin Gaye by the Bee Gees. They have sung many successful duets together over the years.

"My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy" was released in 1969 and during an interview Dolly confirmed that the man on the cover was her husband, Carl Dean, about whom not much is known as he prefers to stay out of the limelight. The title song tells the story of a girl who leaves home and goes to New Orleans to seek fame, here is a snippet of lyrics:

Wow what a powerful song! "I Will Always Love You" was written and sung by Dolly for Porter Wagoner who was a partner of Dolly's. It was also sung by the Late great Whitney Houston as a theme song for the film "Bodyguard".

"I Will Always Love You" was also used in the film production of "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds.
