Singers & Songwriters From The 1970s Quiz

This quiz is about song lyrics from the 70s, some of the best songs from the last thirty years, at least in my opinion. I give you the lyrics, you tell me the artist. Good luck!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one'?

Answer: Kenny Loggins

'Danny's Song' by Kenny Loggins. It was later re-done by Anne Murray, she of 'Snowbird' fame, but the original version was by Kenny Loggins.
2. 'You're where you should be all the time...'?

Answer: Carly Simon

If you've taken any of my other quizzes, you've probably noticed lots of questions about Carly Simon. These lyrics are from 'You're So Vain'
3. 'Take a jumbo, across the water, going to see America'?

Answer: Supertramp

Never underestimate the power of a good Supertramp song. This song is from the album - a masterpiece in my humble POV - 'Breakfast in America'.
4. 'If your child needs a daddy, I can help'?

Answer: Billy Swan

'I Can Help' by Billy Swan. According to my 'Singers and Songwriters 74-75' cd, this song had a PG-slant because of this line.
5. 'Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup and ride that highway in the sky'?

Answer: America

I love America! They are another one of my favorite bands, up there with Three Dog Night, the Doobie Brothers, and Supertramp. This is from 'Lonely People'.
6. 'Dressing wild and looking pretty'?

Answer: Nick Gilder

'Hot Child in the' City', by Nick Gilder. Has this guy done anything else since this great song? If not, that's too bad. :(
7. 'She's got a way about her. I don't know what it is?'

Answer: Billy Joel

This is from the song 'She's Got a Way' by the terrific Billy Joel. The song was a track off the album 'Cold Spring Harbor', Billy Joel's debut in 1971.
8. 'Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean'?

Answer: Anne Murray

'Snowbird' by Anne Murray. Of course!
9. 'Stone guaranteed to blow your mind'?

Answer: James Taylor

'Steamroller' by James Taylor. I know a woman who does a version of this song that will send chills down your back!
10. 'I took my love and I took it down'?

Answer: Fleetwood Mac

'Landslide'. I love this one. Although the song was on several Fleetwood Mac albums, including 'Fleetwood Mac' and 'The Dance,' the song is a solo by Stevie.
