Taylor wrote this song about a friend. "Breathe" is about a broken friendship, whether it is a friend dying, or deciding to cut off all contact with a friend. One could perceive it as breaking up in a relationship, as well.

Speculation amongst Taylor fans is that the person Taylor wrote this song for was her best friend Abigail, who moved off to college in 2008.

Taylor wrote this song, "Change", in summer of 2008, her own way of celebrating America's victory in the Summer Olympics of that year. The official music video has clips of several of the Olympic athletes, including Michael Phelps. This is one of my favorite songs on "Fearless".

Taylor told The Associated Press that "I walked into Liz's [a frequent collaborator] house, and I said, 'I can't believe what's going on right now, I've gotta tell you about this.' I told her all about it. She goes, 'If you could say everything you were thinking to him right now, what would you start with?'" The result - "Tell Me Why".

Answer: Hey Stephen

"Hey Stephen" was written on a crush Taylor had on singer Stephen Barker Liles, of Love and Theft. Taylor told Philadelphia Magazine that "I wrote about all these reasons he should be with me instead of other girls. This guy has absolutely no idea I had a crush on him. It's gonna be kind of interesting when he finds out."

Martina McBride's children visited Taylor Swift at the studio while recording this song. The snaps heard at the end belong to them.

Taylor told The Los Angeles Times (talking about herself and best friend Abigail) that "We kind of came to the conclusion in ninth grade that we were never going to be popular, so we should just stick together and have fun and not take ourselves too seriously. That's why I had so much fun in high school, because I didn't focus too much on the fact that I wasn't really in the clique."

Taylor also said that she "started everything with the line 'Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind' and wrote everything else from that point, almost backwards."

Taylor wrote "The Best Day" to her mother, Andrea Swift, as a Christmas present. She secretly recorded the song in a studio and then made a homemade music video out of it, using videos from her childhood. Andrea did not realize that it was her daughter singing until halfway through the song, and then broke down crying.

On "Love Story", Taylor said "I wrote it about a guy that I was talking to. He wasn't the popular choice, but I believed in it. I thought, 'This love is different, but it's real.' And I knew I needed to put that line in somewhere."

Taylor told "That's Country" that "I came into the writing session with Liz Rose [Taylor's frequent collaborator] and said, I've got this idea. I had overheard a friend of mine talking to his girlfriend and he was completely on the defensive saying, 'No, baby... I had to get off the phone really quickly... I tried to call you right back... Of course I love you.

More than anything! Baby, I'm so sorry.' She was just yelling at him! I felt so bad for him at that moment. So I came up with the first line 'You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset, going off about something that you said,' and I ran that into the story line that I'm in love with him and he should be with me instead of her.

It just became this whole picture. It was really fun for us to write the line, 'She wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts.'"

Answer: White Horse

Taylor told "Billboard" Magazine that "I am completely fascinated by the differences and comparisons between real life and fairy tales because we're raised as little girls to think that we're a princess and that Prince Charming is going to sweep us off our feet. And that we're going to ride off into the sunset on a white horse. We're not really expecting to get blown off or ignored or broken up with or cheated on... It's about how I'm coming to this realization that this is not a fairy tale at all - this is real life."

Taylor openly admits that this song is about her relationship with a member of the boy-band, The Jonas Brothers, Joe Jonas. He reportedly broke-up with Taylor in a 25-second phone call that left her devastated, leading her to write "Forever and Always".

She had to beg the president of her label, Scott Borchetta, to add it to her album, "Fearless", the day before the final version had to be turned in.
