Mike Hugg was the drummer for the group. Ever have a song stick in your head? So off I went to do my 50 laps. I kept singing The Mighty Quinn as I tried to keep count of the laps I had completed.

The group started in England in 1962. Because I was paying more attention to getting the words to the song right I completely lost count of what lap I was on. When I looked up the team bus was gone! They left me on the field of practice some six miles from our High School!

They disbanded in 1971. I bet I looked pretty silly walking down the street in full equiptment on that very hot August day. While I was sitting a a red light a police officer I knew walked up to my car and banged on my helmet with his night stick. He said, "Hey Kabel, turn down the music and take off that silly helmet. Have you lost your mind or what!" I told you in my last quiz that everyone knew my car; especially the local police officers. Man did I feel stupid!

Manfred had a solo career by the name of 'Manfred Mann's Plain Music.' I turned down the music and took off my helmet and went on home. My younger brother was sitting on my bed eating crackers when I came in I wanted to pound on him. So what does he ask me? "Hey Kabel, what is a Mighty Quinn"?

Well that was the last straw for that day with The Mighty Quinn. I threw him off my bed and onto the floor. He made a lot of noise with his yelling and screaming which brought in my step father to his rescue. The Mighty Quinn got me into trouble once again.

This is truly a great song from the '60's and it brings back a lot of memories every time I hear it played today. I still do not know what a Mighty Quinn is/was. If anyone does please tell me. Oh yeah, by the way, my punishment for 'picking' on my younger brother was to wash, dry and put the dishes away for 30 days! The Mighty Quinn cost me 50 laps, a bop on the head and dish pan hands!
