Faith Hill released "Breathe" as the title single from her album of the same name. It was written by Stephanie Bentley and Holly Lamar. It spent six weeks on top of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, beginning in the last week of 1999 and continuing through the first five weeks of 2000.

The song was also a monster crossover hit. It spent seventeen weeks at Number One on the US Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, one week at Number One on the US Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks, six weeks at Number One on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks, and was Number One on the Canadian RPM Adult Contemporary chart. It also reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Internationally it reached number 23 on the Australia ARIA Charts and number 33 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2000, the song won the Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, the Billboard Awards Hot 100 Single of the Year and the Billboard Awards Hot 100 Airplay Track of the Year. It was only the second song in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart to be named single of the year without ever being Number One on the chart, it peaked at number two. "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs was the first in 1965. CMT's 100 Greatest Videos ranked the video for the song number four.

Kenny Rogers released "Buy Me A Rose" as a single from his album "She Rides Wild Horses". It was written by Jim Funk and Eric Hickenlooper.
