Most common is the interpretation that it deals with subjects like interracial relationships and slavery, but also possibly about losing virginity and the use of heroin. Mick Jagger himself was quoted to say that the song is such a mishmash of nasty subjects, he probably would not write it in the same way.

3. Next up was a visit to the supermarket. I only needed three things, but even that proved too much for my scattered brain on the current day. A quick shuffle on the Ipod, pointed to a Roxette song that has just the three things that I need. What is the song called?

The song "Milk and Toast and Honey" is a nice gentle song from Roxette, featured on their album "Roomservice" from 2001. The milk, toast and honey are the kind of things you might have on a rainy Saturday, as explained in the lyrics. One of those stuffy Saturdays that go by so slowly and bore you to death, but then the lover of the lead singer comes by and she knows he is going to take the pain away and bring a little loving.

The song was featured on the soundtrack of a Brazilian soap opera called "Um Anjo Caiu do C�u".

4. My girlfriend really would like a new car. Unfortunately for her I am not a terribly rich man, so it is off to the toy store to get her a scale model of the actual car that she desires. When the helpful shop assistant looked up at me inquiringly to ask what car model I'd like, I drew another blank. But a song by Prince on my Ipod rescued me. What car did Prince sing about?

The song "Little Red Corvette" was featured on Prince's album "1999", which was released in 1983. The song is about an actual car, but actually describes a one night stand that the protagonist in the song had with a very beautiful woman, who happens to very promiscuous.

The woman turns out way too fast and the man knows that their love is not going to last. Apparently Prince got the inspiration when he fell asleep in Lisa Coleman's car after a long recording session. The car was not a red Corvette however, but a pink Edsel. Lisa Coleman was a member of his backing band The Revolution and also recorded with fellow Revolution member Wendy Melvoin.

Their band was called Wendy and Lisa.

5. The hardware store was my next stop. I was looking for a particularly sized object, but my memory failed again. So once again I looked to my Ipod for inspiration. The next song in the shuffle is called "Head Like a Hole". It was not the name of the song that jogged my memory, but rather the name of the band. What was I looking to buy at the hardware store?

Answer: Nine Inch Nails

The song "Head Like a Hole" is featured on the 1989 album "Pretty Hate Machine" by Nine Inch Nails. I am beginning to think that there is a hole in my memory and this might just be the same for the band. Nine Inch Nails is a band founded by Trent Reznor. Their music often focuses on rather dark themes.

6. Next up on my schedule was the pet store. My girlfriend would like an animal for her upcoming birthday. With a menagerie of pets all around me, I have no clue what I was to buy again. But my Ipod manages to come up with a song by Elvis Presley to help me out. What animal am I buying the girl I love?

Answer: Hound Dog

The song "Hound Dog" was originally recorded in 1952 by blues singer Willie Mae Thornton, also known as "Big Mama". Elvis did a remake of the song in 1956. He first released it as a B-side to the song "Don't Be Cruel". I hope the hound dog I am getting for my girl does not do the same as the hound dog in the song, crying all the time.

7. Next up was the video store, where I was supposed to rent a DVD for a romantic evening at home. And once again I have no idea which movie my girlfriend told me to get this morning. But my Ipod saves the day once again with a song by a band called Deep Blue Something. What movie starring Audrey Hepburn am I to rent?

Answer: Breakfast at Tiffany's

The song "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was released by the American band Deep Blue Something in 1995 and is featured on their album "Home". It is about two people that are in a relationship, but are about to break up. They are desperately trying to find something they have in common, when the singer remembers that they both like the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

The movie was released in 1961 and stars Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. It was partially based on a novella written by Truman Capote in 1958.

The movie is a romantic comedy about a girl called Holly Golightly, who falls in love with a man that moved into her apartment building.

8. My next visit was to the flower shop. Naturally I wanted to brighten my girlfriend's birthday with some lovely flowers. But my bout of forgetfulness apparently had not passed, causing me to look very puzzled when the girl in the shop asked me which flowers I want to have. I whipped out my Ipod again and this time Bette Midler saved the day. Which flower was I to buy a bouquet of?

Answer: The Rose

The song "The Rose" was written by Amanda McBroom. It was featured in the 1979 movie of the same name, which starred Bette Midler. She famously performed the song in the movie. "The Rose" is a movie about a rockstar leading a destructive life. The life of this rockstar Mary Stone Foster was partially based on the life of Janis Joplin.

In the movie the nickname of Mary is "The Rose". So Bette is not actually singing about a bouquet of flowers. In the song the singer explains that love is a flower and you its only seed, the you in this line being the other in the relationship.

9. I was nearly done with my shopping route. I next found myself at the bookstore. My girlfriend specifically told me to buy her a novel by a woman named Emily. As my memory loss struck hard again, I couldn't really remember the title or the last name of the author. I am starting to become very attached to my Ipod which delivered another perfect solution by coming up with a song by Kate Bush. What is the name of the book and naturally the song as well?

Answer: Wuthering Heights

"Wuthering Heights" is the only novel written by Emily Bront�. It is the name of the Yorkshire home that the novel focuses on. It tells the story of Catherine and Heathcliff, whose love ultimately destroys them and damages many around them too. Kate Bush was inspired to write the song when she saw the 1970 movie that was based on the novel.

She read the novel and discovered she shared a birthday with the author. The song was written when Kate was 18 years old and was featured on her 1978 debut album "The Kick Inside".

In the song Catherine appears at Heathcliff's window pleading for him to let her in, as she is so cold. The entire song is filled with references to parts of the book, like the "bad dreams in the night" that Catherine mentions.

10. Having done my shopping, it was time to relax in a bar and have a nice drink. But even in this nice atmosphere, my memory let me down. I really couldn't remember anymore what I was going to order to end this shopping day. My Ipod saved me one last time, by bringing up a song by UB40. What type of red drink features in one of their songs?

Answer: Wine

The song "Red Red Wine" was originally recorded by Neil Diamond in 1968. It has been covered many times in the years to come. One of the more well known versions, is that of British band UB40. It was featured on their 1983 album "Labour of Love", an album full of cover songs. Ironically the band is rumoured to have not even known the Neil Diamond version, while doing their cover version.

They based it on a rendition by Tony Tribe. The song is about someone who can't forget about the love he lost and is now plagued by the painful memories.

The only thing that can provide solace is the red wine.
