Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Will you be whiter, much whiter than snow? Sin stains are lost in His life giving flow." What song written by Lewis E. Jones is this? Note: I had to remove the song title from the lyrics quoted.

Answer: There is Power in the Blood

Not much is known about Lewis E. Jones but the song is very popular. It is believed that Jones wrote it while camping in Maryland. He based the song on the verse in Revelation 7:14 which, in the KJV says "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.".

The lyrics used in the question are the third verse of "There is Power in the Blood". When put with the song title it says:

"Will you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood.
Sin stains are lost in His life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.".
2. "Soon the Lamb will take his bride To be ever at his side, All the host of Heaven will assembled be; O 'twill be a glorious sight, All the saints in spotless white; And with Jesus they will feast eternally." What song written by Charles B. Widmeyer and arranged by S. H. Bolton are these lyrics from?

Answer: Come and Dine

The only thing that is known of this song is that Widmeyer wrote it to go along with a sermon he was preaching on John 21. He quoted the KJV version of verse 12 where Jesus tells his disciples, who had just pulled in a huge amount of fish, to "come and dine" with him.

The lyrics used in the question are from the third and final verse of the song "Come and Dine".

6. "Jesus paid it all, All to him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." What song written by Elvina Hall and arranged by John T. Grape do the lyrics belong to?

Answer: Jesus Paid it All

John T. Grape wrote the music to the song while his church was undergoing some repairs. The church organ was placed in his care and he wrote the song and played it in the church a while afterwards. The Reverend of the church liked it, and a woman in the church named Elvina Hall had written some words that would work with Grape's music. So they put them together and "Jesus Paid it All", also known as "All to Christ I Owe", was born.
