Dan Blocker(1928-1972) was an American actor and is best remembered as Hoss Cartwright in the western TV series "Bonanza"(1959-1973). Dan passed away in May 1972 and his character in the series was not replaced. He did appear in other episodes of TV series including "Have Gun Will Travel", "The Rifleman" and "The Restless Gun" before landing the role in "Bonanza". Dan also served in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart for wounds received during battle.
