Answer: George Putnam

Amelia Earhart was a pilot whose disappearance in the 1930s made her infamous. Her husband George Putnam was a famous publisher. After Earhart became famous, George served as her promoter.

Max Mallowan was Agatha Christie's second husband. Mallowan was a famous archaeologist and Christie frequently traveled abroad with him. His archaeological adventures inspired some Christie's greatest mystery novels such as "Murder in Mesopotamia" and "Appointment with Death".
3. Sacajawea

Answer: Toussaint Charbonneau

Sacajawea was a young Shoshone girl who assisted Lewis and Clark on their expedition west. Her husband, the French-Canadian fur trader Toussaint Charbonneau, joined the expedition as a translator. The couple had two children, Jean-Baptiste and Lisette. Clark nicknamed Jean-Baptiste "Pomp" and reportedly even offered to adopt him from Sacajawea and Charbonneau.
4. Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth was born a slave. Initially, she fell in love with a man named Robert who worked on a different plantation. Robert was savagely beaten by his owners after he fled to meet Isabella (which was Sojourner Truth's name at the time). She later married a slave named Thomas (last name either unknown or non- existent).

In 1826, Truth fled her plantation with one daughter and left Thomas and her other children behind. She did this because her owner reneged on his promise to free her. She was later reunited with her children and husband.
5. Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1988-1990 and again 1993-1996. She was assassinated by militants in 2007 shortly after returning to Pakistan to run in the 2008 elections. Her husband, Asif Ali Zardari later served as Pakistan's 11th President from 2008-2013.

Betty White is a famous actress best known for her roles on "The Golden Girls" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". Her third husband was Allen Ludden, who is best known as the host of the "Password" series of game shows. The two met while White was a celebrity guest on the show while Ludden was hosting.
7. Lucrezia Borgia

Lucrezia Borgia was the daughter of Pope Alexander VI who was infamous for her blood-thirsty lust for power. Her first husband was Giovanni Sforza, an Italian nobleman. As his power waned, so did Lucrezia's interest in him and she had the marriage annulled on the grounds that he was impotent.

Valentina Tereshkova was a Soviet/Russian cosmonaut who was the first woman in space. Her first husband Andriyan Nikolayev was also a cosmonaut. Both were politically active in the Soviet Union and Russia.
9. Sylvia Plath

Answer: Ted Hughes

Sylvia Plath was an American-British writer of "The Bell Jar". She is famous for her suicide which she committed by sticking her head in a gas oven. Her husband was the British poet Ted Hughes. Hughes was allegedly abusive to Plath which may have led to her depression and suicide.

After Plath's death, Hughes had a relationship with Assia Wevill who also committed suicide via the gas oven.
10. Angela Merkel

Angela Merkel became the first female Chancellor of Germany in 2005 and became one of the most important and powerful people in early 21st century Europe. Her second husband is Joachim Sauer, a noted quantum chemist. Sauer is known for his low profile during his wife's incumbency, preferring to focus on his work.

It was reported that he did not attend his wife's inauguration, opting to watch it on TV from his lab. Prior to becoming a politician, Merkel was also a noted scientist.
