He was born at Ft. Benning, GA, but was raised near, and loved his hometown of Moreland. It was the subject of many of his columns.
2. How many times was Lewis (an accused womanizer) married?

Answer: Four

All four of his marriages were short lived...a bad choice of words, considering that he married Dedra just a few short months before his passing.
3. What was the name of Lewis' beloved black lab?

Answer: Catfish

Catfish was the honorary grand marshal of the annual Catfish Festival in Kingsland, GA one year. An honor he never let Lewis forget.
4. In his book, "If I Ever Get Back To Georgia, I'm Going To Nail My Feet To The Ground", he wrote about his exile from Atlanta and the south. What was the locale of his exile?

Answer: Chicago

The frozen wasteland of Chicago in winter was so vividly described that I hope I never get into so much trouble as to be sent there.
For the record, Chicago is a lovely town in the Spring and early summer. Just not with several feet of snow and ice.

He and his brother, Ludlow Porch went to Russia on vacation, and to check lamps for hidden KGB listening devices. The infection in his tooth spread to his porcine heart valve.

Answer: Wearing their hats backwards

He wrote that the only person who can wear their hat backwards is the catcher, and that even he turns it around to the proper position when not wearing the face mask.
