His late sister-in-law Kadambari Devi is widely believed to have been a lasting influence on his poems and his art.

Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) is considered one of the greatest poets from Lebanon. Gibran's book "The Prophet" consists of 26 essays that portray his thoughts on love, marriage, work, religion and other subjects. First released in 1923, the book has never gone out of print. Respecting Gibran's final wish he was buried in Lebanon in the 7th century Mar Sarkis Monastery, which was later turned into the Gibran Museum.

George Gordon Byron (1788-1824) carefully cultivated the image of the Byronic hero who is "mad, bad and dangerous to know" through his works as well as his personal life. He had many affairs including his cousin Mary Duff, his half sister Augusta Leigh (rumored) and the married Lady Caroline Lamb.

His famous poem "She Walks In Beauty" is believed to have been inspired by his cousin by marriage, Anne Beatrix. He joined the Greek War of Independence from the Ottoman empire. In token of his contribution to the war, Vyronas, a town in Greece, was named after him.
