9. Oklahoma: I was the first woman to be named a Delegate to the United Nations. I was a staunch anti-Communist. I felt that the United States should oppose the growth of Communism all over the world, even if it meant supporting undemocratic regimes.
10. Illinois: I set up a community center to serve people in the neighborhood with a variety of activities ranging from night school courses to physical activity and hobby enrichment. I was an activist in many areas. As Director of "The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom", I received the Nobel Peace Prize--the first American woman to be so honored.
