Answer: Johnny Butkovich

In the beginning of 1976, 17 year old Johnny Butkovich began working for Gacy's PDM Contractors Company. After a month of working for Gacy, Johnny decided to quit, and he was angry when Gacy with-held two weeks pay. Unbeknownst to anyone, Johnny decided to go to Gacy's house to confront him, and he was never seen alive again. No one suspected Gacy, everyone just assumed that Johnny had run away.

Indeed, even Johnny's own family believed he had run off.
2. In June of 1976, another 17 year old man, who had worked for Gacy's company, was on his way to the train station to meet his stepfather's brother. Unfortunately, the teenager never made it to the train station. What is the name of this man?

Answer: Michael Bonnin

In June of 1976, 17 year old Michael Bonnin, who worked for Gacy, decided to go to the train station to meet his stepfather's brother. While on his way, he went missing. The police, again, assumed that Michael had run away, but his family believed otherwise. They claimed Michael would never had run away because he loved his family too much.
3. On June 13, 1976, a young man left his home. Supposedly he was going to be meeting some friends, but he never made it to the meeting. He was lured by Gacy and murdered. What was the name of this young man?

Answer: Billy Carroll, Jr.

Billy began working for Gacy a few months before he was murdered. On June 13, 1976, Billy told his family that he was going to go meet his friends. His family wasn't worried when he failed to come home, they weren't even worried when he wasn't home three days later. Only after he was missing for a month did his family begin to suspect something was amiss.

They talked to his friends, but his friends said that they never met him on June 13th. When his family went to the police, the police treated the case as if Billy was a runaway, when in reality he was murdered by Gacy.
4. On January 20, 1977, 19 year old John Szyc was last seen driving his car. Strangers told of seeing the car the day he disappeared, but the police were still at a loss. What kind of car did John Szyc have?

Answer: 1971 Plymouth Satellite

John Szyc was last seen driving his prized 1971 Plymouth Satellite. A few days after his disappearance, another young man was caught by the police driving a 1971 Plymouth Satellite. The young man told the police that a man named Gacy had sold him the car.

When Gacy was asked about the whereabouts of John Szyc, Gacy denied everything except the fact that Szyc had sold him the car. If only the police would have checked the car's registration, they would have found that the date the car was transferred was 18 days after Szyc's disappearance.
5. On September 15, 1977, an 18 year old went to catch the bus so he could go horseback riding with his friends. The boy never made it to the bus stop, and was never seen alive again. What is the name of this boy?

Answer: Robert Gilroy

On September 15, 1977, 18 year old Robert Gilroy, the son of a Chicago police sergeant, left his house to catch a bus so he could go horseback riding with his friends. Robert's friends waited in vain for him and decided to go riding anyway. When Robert's father found out his son was missing, he launched a full scale investigation, but it seemed that Robert had disappeared off the face of the earth.
6. On December 11, 1978, a 15 year old, who worked at a pharmacy, went missing. While he was working at the pharmacy he was seen talking to Gacy. It seems that Gacy had offered the teen a job at PDM. What was the name of this boy?

Answer: Robert Piest

On December 11, 1978, 15 year old Robert Piest was about ready to get done work at the pharmacy. He had about an hour left. His coworker, who worked in the photo department, was cold, so he gave her his coat. She placed her receipt for pictures in one of his pockets. This would be a major clue to the police.

About a half hour later, Robert was seen talking to Gacy. It seems that Gacy was offering Robert a job at PDM. By all accounts, Gacy left by himself. A few minutes later, Mrs. Piest came by to pick her son up. Robert asked her to wait a few minutes because he had to talk to someone. Robert retrieved his coat from his coworker and went outside to talk to that someone, and he was never seen again. His mother waited and then started to get worried because he had never done anything like that before. She waited for an hour and then called the police.

Lt. Kozenczak went to Gacy's house and asked him if he knew the whereabouts of Robert Piest. Gacy said he had no idea who the kid was. Lt. Kozenczak knew this was an outright lie, but left it alone until two days later. Had the police done something then, Robert Piest might have still been alive.
7. On December 13, 1978, a search warrant was issued for Gacy's house. When the police arrived, Gacy wasn't home, but the police searched anyway. In charge of the search was Inspector Kautz. Kautz discovered a piece of evidence that conclusively linked Gacy to the disappearance of the boy two days before. What was that piece of evidence?

Answer: A receipt for a roll of film with a serial number on it, from Nisson Pharmacy

During the search, Inspector Kautz discovered: A jewelry box containing two driver's licenses and several rings, including one which had engraved on it the name Maine West High School class of 1975 and the initials J.A.S.; a box containing marijuana and rolling papers; pills including amyl nitrite and Valium; a stained section of rug; an address book; books such as, 'The Rights of Gay People', 'Bike Boy', 'Pederasty', and 'Bi-Centennial Gay Guide'; police badges; nylon rope; and a receipt for a roll of film with a serial number on it, from Nisson Pharmacy.

This last piece of evidence conclusively linked Gacy to Robert Piest. Priest's coworker told Kautz about how she placed the receipt in Robert's coat the night he disappeared.
8. During the search, investigators entered the crawl space of Gacy's house. What was the one thing that made investigators know that human remains were somewhere in the crawl space?

Answer: A rancid odor

9. Many days later, the police realized that they didn't have enough evidence to arrest Gacy. Instead, they decided to arrest him on another charge. What was the other charge?

Answer: Possession of marijuana and Valium

The police knew they had to get Gacy off the streets, and since they didn't have enough evidence at the time to arrest him for murder, they instead arrested him for possession of marijuana and Valium. The night before his arrest, and unknown to the police, Gacy had admitted to a friend that he had, in fact, committed murder. Gacy told his friend that the reason why he murdered about 30 people was because every one of them were trying to blackmail him.
10. During the time that Gacy was arrested on the other charge, he was also awaiting action for a case of sexual assault. Who did Gacy allegedly assault?

Answer: Jeffery Ringall

On May 22, 1978, Jeffery met Gacy outside a club. Gacy was in a black Oldsmobile, and offered to share a joint with Jeffery while they cruised around town. The two no sooner went around the corner when Gacy covered Jeffery's face with a rag soaked in chloroform. and when Jeffery woke up, he was in Gacy's house. Gacy sexually assaulted him and drugged him. Jeffery passed out again from the pain and when he woke up next, he was lying under a statue in Chicago's Lincoln Park, fully clothed.

A few weeks later, Jeffery, who had no idea who his attacker was, but had gotten a good look at him, happened to see Gacy. Jeffery then went to the police and brought charges against Gacy.
11. Gacy confessed to over 50 murders.

Answer: False
