Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who rolled away the stone covering the tomb where Jesus' body lay?

Answer: An Angel of the Lord

See Matthew 28. Peter and John visited the empty tomb, but the stone had already been removed. The Roman soldiers, who were on duty, "were so afraid [of the angel] that they shook and became like dead men". The soldiers were bribed to lie about the events at the tomb. If the soldiers had really fallen asleep on duty, they would have been in danger of being executed!
2. Who fell out of a window, after falling asleep while Paul was preaching?

Answer: Eutychus

See Acts 20:7-11. I guess Paul must not have been shouting, but it does say he "talked on and on" (verse 9)! The young man appeared dead, but God raised him to life after Paul prayed. Dorcas was another believer, whom God raised from the dead in answer to Peter's prayers (see Acts 9:36-43). Barnabas and Silas accompanied Paul on some of his missionary journeys.
3. Which diminutive tax collector had a change of heart after an encounter with Jesus?

Answer: Zacchaeus

See Luke 19:1-10. He was a tax collector who had robbed the people. But after his encounter with Jesus, he repaid all that he had stolen with interest and promised not to steal any more.
4. Which Old Testament king had his life extended by 15 years when he prayed to the Lord for healing?

Answer: Hezekiah

See Isaiah 38. Hezekiah was a good king, as he says in this passage that he had walked faithfully before God. Since God healed him, He probably agreed with him.
5. Where did Titus, to whom Paul wrote a letter, live?

Answer: Crete

See Titus 1:5. The book of Titus, like the books which Paul wrote to Timothy, gives good advice on how to lead a church and other aspects of Christian living.
6. "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light." From which Old Testament book is this quotation taken?

Answer: Isaiah

See Isaiah 9:2. Christians believe that this chapter foretells the coming of Jesus as the Messiah.
7. Which woman, from the time of Joshua, is one of the females mentioned in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus?

Answer: Rahab

See Matthew 1:2:16. Rahab, who is mentioned in verse 5, was a prostitute who helped the Israelite spies when they explored Jericho. Here she is cited as the grandmother of Boaz, who married Ruth, the other woman mentioned in the same verse. Tamar and Mary are also mentioned, along with (in some translations) Bathsheba. Other translations simply refer to her as Uriah's wife.
8. Who was the barren wife of Elkanah?

Answer: Hannah

See 1 Samuel 1. She promised to dedicate her son to the Lord's service if God granted her request for a child. Her son Samuel grew up in the temple and was Israel's last Judge. He was very wise and sensitive to God's voice from an early age. See 1 Samuel 3.
9. What was the name of Simon Peter's brother, who first brought Simon Peter to Jesus?

Answer: Andrew

See John 1:40-42. It could be said that he was the first evangelist!
10. By rearranging the initial letters of all the answers, you will come up with the name of a book which is one of the Minor Prophets in the Old Testament. Which one is it?

Answer: Zechariah

Amongst many other things, you will find in this book the prediction that the Messiah will enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey - see Zechariah 9:9. Christians believe that this was fulfilled in the life of Jesus, on what we now call Palm Sunday, when he entered Jerusalem on a donkey the week before his crucifixion. See Luke 19:28-41.
