Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm the older bruddah of Moses. I walked with him and talked for him for a major portion of my life.

Answer: Aaron

"Then the Lord's anger burned against Moses and he said, 'What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well." (Exodus 4:14). Miriam is Moses and Aaron's sister (Exodus 15:20). There are several Azarels in the Bible, one of them also a Levite who played musical instruments in the Tabernacle during King David's time (1 Chronicles 25:4). Levi was one of the Jacob's sons with Leah (Genesis 29:34). Moses and Aaron were Levi's descendants.
2. I'm the bruddah of Dinah. When Shechem had sexual relations with her outside of marriage, I and my brother Simeon waited until Shechem and his tribesmen were sore from circumcision before entering their city and killing all the men.

Answer: Levi

Dinah and Levi were the offspring of Jacob and Leah (Genesis 30:18). The Shechem saga is told in Genesis 34. Asher was the offspring of Jacob and Zilpah, the maid of Leah (Genesis 30:13). Dan was the offspring of Jacob and Bilhah, the maid of Rachel (Genesis 30:6). Benjamin was the offspring of Jacob and Rachel (Genesis 35:18).
3. I'm the bruddah of John, son of Zebedee. Together with John-boy, we were called the "sons of thunder."

Answer: James

James and John were the sons of Zebedee (Matthew 4:21) and they were called the sons of thunder ("Boanerges") (Mark 3:17). A possible reason for their nickname could be their initial disposition. When treated rudely in a Samaritan village, they asked Jesus: "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to destroy them?" (Luke 9:54). Fortunately, John learned well and later penned these brotherly words of love: "Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers" (1 John 3:13). No fire from heaven necessary!
4. I'm the bruddah of Simon Peter. We fished for fish together, and then Jesus taught us to fish for men.

Answer: Andrew

Andrew and Simon Peter were brothers whereas James was the brother of John (Matthew 10:2). Matthias was the apostle chosen to replace Judas Iscariot--no brother is mentioned (Acts 1:23). No brothers of Matthew are mentioned in The Bible (Matthew 9:9).
5. I'm the half-bruddah of Solomon. Same father, different mother. I was killed when my hair got caught in a tree and left me hanging around for Joab and friends.

Answer: Absalom

David was the father of Absalom, Adonijah, and Solomon (1 Chronicles 3:1-7). Absalom of the flowing locks was the son of David and Maacah (2 Samuel 3:3). Adonijah was the son of David and Haggith (2 Samuel 3:4). Solomon had Adonijah put to death when Adonijah requested permission to marry Abishag, a young girl who had looked after David. Solomon saw this as a threat to his throne (1 Kings 2:23). Samson was of the tribe of Dan, the son of Manoah (Judges 13:2-24).
6. I'm Abel's bruddah. I'm the one who coined the phrase, "Am I my brother's keeper?"

Answer: Cain

Adam was the father of Cain, Abel, and Seth (Genesis 4:1-25). Cain said, "Am I my brother's keeper?" to the Lord in Genesis 4:9 after the Lord asked him where Abel is. Ham was the son of a 500-year old Noah (Genesis 5:32).
7. I'm the bruddah of Japheth. I'm the one who didn't do anything about my father Noah's nakedness except to tell my brothers.

Answer: Ham

Japheth, Ham, and Shem were all sons of Noah (Genesis 5:32); however, after Noah gets drunk and naked, Ham looked upon him and went to tell his brothers Japheth and Shem. They walked in backwards with a garment to cover up their father's nakedness without looking upon him. For this act, Ham and his descendants--the Canaanites--were cursed by Noah (Genesis 9:20-25). Lamech was Noah's father (Genesis 5:28-29). Nimrod was Noah's great-grandson, a descendant of Ham (Genesis 10:8).
8. I'm the half-bruddah of Isaac. Same dad, different mother. Isaac's mother convinced my daddy to tell my mother and me to leave the settlement.

Answer: Ishmael

Ishmael was the son of Hagar and Abraham (Genesis 16-1-11). Hagar left the Abraham community twice, once while pregnant and again after Isaac's birth. She and Sarah just didn't get along. Esau and Jacob were the two nations that come from the womb of Isaac's wife Rebekah (Genesis 25:21-26). Ahab was the seventh king of Israel who "did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him" (1 Kings 16: 29-30).
9. I'm Abraham and Nahor's bruddah. I died, but my son Lot traveled around with Uncle Abe.

Answer: Haran

Serug was a descendant of Shem and the great-grandfather of Abraham (Genesis 11:22-23). Terah was the father of Abraham (Genesis 11:27). "Ur of the Chaldeans" is the place where Abraham came out of with his nephew Lot of the deceased Haran. Abraham's brother Nahor and Nahor's wife Milcah were the grandparents of Rebekah, who would be the wife of Isaac, Abraham's son (Genesis 22:20-23).

This all makes for a puzzling family tree, to say the least.
10. I'm the bruddah of Martha and Mary. My good friend Jesus brought me back from the dead.

Answer: Lazarus

Lazarus was the brother of Martha and Mary raised from the dead (John 11:1-44). Andrew and Simon Peter were both disciples of Christ as well as brothers (Matthew 10:2). Ananias was a guy struck dead for not paying his tithes honestly to Simon Peter (Acts 5:1-6).
