Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How old was Abraham when Sarah gave birth to their son Isaac?

Answer: 100

Genesis 21:5. Sarah was once barren when Abraham had Ishmael with her servant Hagar. Ishmael wasn't the true heir of Abraham's covenant with God, so Ishmael and his mother were sent away. Then, when Abraham and Sarah got news from God that they were going to have a baby, they laughed because Abraham was 99 at this time and figured it was too ridiculous to have kids at that age.
2. What was the name of the blind beggar that Jesus and his disciples met on the road from Jericho?

Answer: Bartimaeus

Mark 10:46. This man was healed from his blindness when Jesus told him to "go his way".
3. What prophet helped a widow pay her debt by asking God to replenish her empty jars with oil?

Answer: Elisha

2 Kings 4:1-7. Elisha told the widow to sell the oil once she got it from her sons.
4. Who was the brave and beautiful queen who saved her people from death?

Answer: Esther

Esther 8:3-11. Esther married Ahasuerus, King of Persia. This king had a right hand man named Haman. Haman had a grudge against Mordecai, Esther's cousin, for not bowing down to him. Haman had the King seal a degree saying all Jews would be killed in Shushan on the 12th of Adar. Esther found out about this plan. Esther wound up exposing Haman to the King and Haman was hung on gallows as a result.

When that fateful day came, the Jews defended themselves well with help from Esther.
5. Who was thrown into a den of lions?

Answer: Daniel

Daniel 6:16. Daniel was thrown into a den of lions because he disobeyed a royal decree set by King Darius the Mede. Darius was tricked into signing it by officials who were jealous of Daniel, because King Darius favored him most above all the wise men in his kingdom.

The decree was if you were caught asking some other person or deity besides the King for something for 30 days, you would be put to death by the lions. Daniel eventually lived through the night because an Angel of the Lord came and shut up the lions' mouths.

As a result, the men who were jealous of Daniel were thrown into the lions den and did not survive.
6. This woman was barren, but when God answered her prayer for a child, she dedicated her newborn son's life to God's work.

Answer: Hannah

1 Samuel 1:27-28. Hannah was married to a man named Elkanah. Elkanah also had another wife named Penninah. Penninah would often make fun of Hannah because she had children, whereas Hannah had none. She had enough of it. So she prayed to God and he gave her a son. That son grew up to be a prophet of God.
7. What man of the Bible owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred donkeys?

Answer: Job

Job 1:3. Job had been very wealthy with a wife and ten kids. The devil, with permission from God, took it all away from him and even struck him with sickness. It was truly a test of Job's faith in God and to reward him for passing the test, God gave all the things he lost back to him.

Answer: Paul

Acts 9:3-4. Paul was called Saul at this time. Paul's blindness lasted for three days until Ananias of Damascus healed him. Paul then led a life of serving God.
10. Which disciple said to Jesus, "Show us the Father; and it will be enough for us."?

Answer: Philip

John 14:8. Jesus asked him after he said this,"Have I been so long time to you and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me also hath seen the Father; and how can you say "Show us the Father?" Do you not believe that the Father is in Me and I in Him?"
11. This woman loved her mother-in-law so much she left her country and went with her to a new land.

Her husband and sons died suddenly leaving three widows: Ruth, Naomi, and Orpah. She married Boaz and had a son named Obed, and Obed had Jesse, and Jesse had King David.
12. Who was dedicated to God before his birth and then grew up in the temple with the Priest Eli?

Answer: Samuel

1 Samuel 1:27-28. Hannah had a son named Samuel as a result of her prayers to God. As soon as she was pregnant, she promised him to God. 13. What was NOT another name that Simon, brother of Andrew, was also called?

Answer: John

14. Which martyr for Christ was stoned?

Answer: Stephen

Acts 7:54-60. He was stoned to death for preaching the Word of God. Not to mention, Saul (before he was renamed Paul) allowed the stoning of of Stephen as well as other Christians. Stephen's last words were, "Lord, receive my Spirit." No wonder why Jesus asked Saul from the light "Why do you persecute me?"
15. Whom did the Apostle Paul consider his "true son in faith"?

Answer: Timothy
