Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Revelation 13 describes a beast that rose up out of the sea. What does a beast represent in Bible prophecy?

Answer: kingdoms, government, political power

In Daniel 7 (another prophetic book) Daniel had a vision of four beasts. He had this to say in verse 17 as he explained the vision: "These great beasts which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth." Bearing in mind that scripture explains scripture have a look also at verse 23 of the same which states clearly that the fourth beast is the fourth kingdom upon the earth.
2. John the Revelator said there appeared in heaven another wonder, a woman clothed with the sun (Rev.12:1). What does a woman represent in prophecy?

Answer: a church

In writing to the Corinthians, Paul refers to the church as a woman who is married to one husband (2 Cor.11:2). He uses similar imagery in Ephesians 5:22-35. This is in keeping with Jeremiah 6:2 and Isaiah 51:16.
3. In Revelation 20:2 we are told that an angel came down from heaven having the key of the bottomless pit and he took hold of the serpent... Whatever could the term "serpent" signify?

Answer: Satan

The ensuing part of the verse goes on to name the serpent as the Devil and Satan. Revelation 12:9 also names the serpent as the Devil and Satan.
4. To feel the wind blowing is not an unusual occurrence but what do winds symbolize in Revelation 7:1?

Answer: strife and commotion

Winds in prophecy are symbols of strife, commotion and war. In Revelation 7:1 John says he saw four angels standing in the four corners of the earth holding the four winds that they should not blow on the earth, sea or any tree. In verse 3 another angel gave the instruction that nothing should be hurt until the servants of God had been sealed in their foreheads. Jer. 25:31-33, 49:36,37 and Zec.7:14 all use wind as a symbol of commotion and war.
5. Take a look at those white robes worn by some choir members. Ah...but what do white robes symbolize in Revelation?

Answer: victory and righteousness

White robes are indicative of victory and righteousness. In speaking through the prophet Isaiah, God speaks of the garment of salvation/ the robe of righteousness with which He covers His people. (Isaiah 61:10) Revelation 19:8 assures us that fine linen is indeed the righteousness of the saints.
6. Agriculture in Revelation? What agricultural tool did the Son of Man have in his hand in Revelation 14:14 and what did it represent?

Answer: He had a sickle which represents the harvest/the end of the world

In verse 15-16 an angel comes out of the temple who announces that the harvest of the earth is ripe and tells the Son of Man to thrust in His sickle and reap. The reaping then began. Matthew 13:39 makes it clear that the harvest is the end of the world.
7. Why am I smelling perfume in Revelation? Oh! It's actually incense. Is it true that incense is just a perfume worn by biblical women?

Answer: No

Revelation 5:8 describes a prophetic scene in which four beasts and four and twenty elders fall before the Lamb. Each one has golden vials full of odours. The text explains that these represent the prayers of the saints. David prayed in Psalm 141:2, 'let my prayer be set before the Lord as incense.'
8. In Scriptures doors are seen opening and shutting but what does the word 'door' symbolize in Revelation?

Answer: opportunity

Revelation 3:20 paints a picture of Jesus standing at the door of individuals and knocking. He says that if His voice is heard and the door is opened He would enter and fellowship with the individuals. This represents an opportunity to get close to Him. Paul also uses the term door to symbolize opportunity when he said a door was opened to him in Troas.(II Cor.2:12) Interestingly though, Luke uses the word 'door' to symbolize probation. (Luke 13:24,25)
9. Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. Do stars represent wealth in Revelation?

Answer: No

Stars are used to symbolize angels in Revelation. Revelation 1:20 defines the seven stars as the angels of the seven churches. Also in Revelation 12:4 the scripture says that the tail of the serpent drew the third part of the stars from heaven and cast them to earth. Verses 7-9 makes it clear that these were the angels that fell with Satan.
10. Brain Twisted! Let's make this easy... What does ''man child' represent in Revelation?

Answer: Jesus

Yes, it indeed represents Jesus. Revelation 12 describes a woman who travailed in pain and brought forth a man child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. Psalm 2:7-9 speaks of Jesus in the same vein.
