His reign lasted from 1846 to 1878. During his reign he initiated the First Vatican Council, during which he made papal infallibility a dogma of the Church.

it was John XII, who was 18 when elected in 955. Late in his reign, he was accused of murder, incest and sacrilege and his ordination was declared invalid on February 26, 964, just 3 months before his death.

He was born Nicholas Breakspear and was elected in 1154.
