Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?" What other man, for a short time, walked on water?

Answer: Peter

According to Matthew 14:22-33 in the NIV the disciples are in a boat when Peter sees Jesus and says, "Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water." In the next verse, Jesus says, "Come." Peter gets out of the boat and starts to walk on the water to Jesus; however, he takes his eyes off Jesus and no longer has the faith to sustain himself, so starts to sink. Jesus catches him and says, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
2. "Mary, did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?" Where does Jesus say, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."? (NIV)

Answer: John 3:17

John 3:16, the verse before it in the NIV, states, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

All this was spoken as a result of Nicodemus asking Jesus, "How can someone be born when they are old?" (John 3:4) after Jesus told him to enter the Kingdom of Heaven a person must be born again. Nicodemus was a Pharisee. Many of the Pharisees practiced the Jewish law more meticulously and studied it more closely than anyone else, but they did not necessarily understand it for all that.
3. "Did you know / That your baby boy has come to make you new? / This child that you've delivered / Will soon deliver you?" How did Jesus deliver Mary?

Answer: Died on the cross and rose again on the third day, conquering death

1 Corinthians 15:3b-4 in the NIV says, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

According to this and the Gospels, Jesus died to deliver us from our sins. To be delivered from sins, according to the understanding of many Christians, is to have Jesus' blood cover your sins by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.
4. "Mary, did you know / That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?" Where was the blind man who some people brought to Jesus, at which time Jesus spit in the man's eyes and touched them, giving the man his sight?

Answer: Bethsaida

Bethsaida was a village, possibly located on the Northern part of the Sea of Galilee. According to Mark 8:22-25 NIV the first time Jesus touched the man's eyes the man "saw trees walking around". Jesus touched him again and "he saw everything clearly."

Bethsaida translated/transliterated from Hebrew or Aramaic means "house of 'hunting' or 'fishing'".
5. "Mary, did you know / That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?" What was Jesus doing before he calmed the storm in the Gospel of Luke?

Answer: Sleeping

It says in Luke 8:22-25 (NIV) that Jesus was in the boat sleeping when "A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger." They woke Jesus up, frantic that they were going to die in the storm. "He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm." Jesus then asked them where their faith was.

Then men wondered who Jesus was that even the seas listened to him.
6. "Did you know / That your baby boy has walked where angels trod? / When you kiss your little baby / You've kissed the face of God. Mary, did you know / Mary, did you know? / The blind will see / The deaf will hear And the dead will live again." Who was the first dead person Jesus brought back to life?

Answer: The widow's son from Nain

It says in Luke 7:11-16 that when Jesus was told that the widow's only son had died and was being carried out, "his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry." Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying the son on, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother."

Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha whom Jesus brought back from the dead four days after he had died.

Jairus' daughter's story can be found in Mark 5:21-53, mixed also with Jesus healing the women who had been bleeding for 12 years.

Lastly, Jesus raising from the dead all the believers who have ever died has not happened yet. This will happen, according to 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NIV) in Jesus' second coming. This verse says, "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."
7. "The lame will leap" Jesus gave his Apostles the power to perform miracles as well. What two apostles healed a lame man in "the Name of Jesus Christ" in Acts 3?

Answer: Peter and John

Peter was the one who helped the man up, but John was there so I included his name.

It says in Acts 3:8, "He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God."

What the man asked for initially was alms for the poor. But Peter (and John) gave him something much better. Now he could work and make his own money.
8. "The dumb will speak / The praises of the Lamb / Mary, did you know / That your baby boy is Lord of all creation? / Mary, did you know / That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?" Where was John when he wrote about Jesus ruling all the nations one day in the book of Revelation?

Answer: Patmos

Patmos is a small Grecian island found in the Aegean Sea. John wrote Revelation while exiled on the island when he had his vision about which he wrote in the book. According to tradition, John is the only one of the 12 Apostles (not including Judas Iscariot who committed suicide and was replaced) that was not martyred.
9. "Did you know / That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?" Where in the Old Testament does it prophesy about Jesus coming "as a Lamb to slaughter"? (NIV)

Answer: Isaiah

The verse is Isaiah 53:7: "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth." (NIV)

Later in Acts 8:32 the eunuch was reading this same passage, and Philip had to explain to him what it meant and Who it referred to.
10. "This sleeping child you're holding / Is the Great I Am / The Great I Am." Who did God tell in Exodus, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" (NIV)?

Answer: Moses

Later in the Gospels when Jesus is arrested He was asked, "Are you Jesus?" and He replied: "I AM he." When he said this the people "drew back and fell to the ground." This was because I AM (in the original text "he" was not included) was equating Himself with God the Father.
