On one occasion, he noted that people from different tribes, who had long been enemies, were gathered together in church to take part in the liturgy--and it proceeded without a hitch.

He replaced the late Metropolitan Filaret. In his new rank, St. Innocent did much to improve the lot of priests, from raising funds to support them, to opening a retirement home for senior clergy.
