Answer: Nebuchadnezzar

In the book of Daniel, the story of king Nebuchadnezzar's degradation is told. He was a boastful king and gave God no praise for his success, thus God allowed him to be driven from amongst man, he lived with the animals where he ate and behaved like one of them.

At the end of his affliction, he regained his senses and acknowledged Him as the Most High God who is able to abase those who walk in pride. Daniel 4: 30-37.

Answer: Lazarus

Lazarus of Bethany was sick and died before Jesus arrived at his home. His sisters were upset with Him for not coming in time to save their brother from death but He said to them, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me though he may die, he shall live." Then He thanked God in advance for answering Him and called forth Lazarus from his tomb. John 11:1-45.

Answer: Balaam

Balaam was on his way to visit Balak (who wanted Balaam to curse the children of Israel) when God placed an angel in his donkey's path. Balaam could not see the angel and so he struck the animal three times and was furious because it would not move. God then opened the donkey's mouth and it asked Balaam, "What have I done you that you have struck me three times?" Then God opened Balaam's eyes and he saw an angel blocking the donkey's path. Numbers 22:5-6,21-35 gives an account of this twilight zone incident.

Answer: Peter

Matthew 14:24-33 tells the story of how the disciples were out to sea and they saw someone walking on the water and thought it was a ghost. However, it was Jesus and He said to them, "Be of good cheer it is I." Then Peter told Him that he wanted to come to Him on the water and He said "Come." Peter started walking on the water but when he saw the waves he was afraid and began sinking. Jesus said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" He then stretched out His hand and helped him into the boat, where the disciples declared, "Truly you are the son of God." Matthew 14:24-33

Answer: Samson

Before Samson was born, his mother was told by an angel that he was going to be a Nazarite unto God from the womb and that he would one day deliver the children of Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. Samson's great strength was a gift from God and one day when he was handed over to the Philistines by his own people, he broke the ropes that had him tied up and slew them with the jawbone of an ass that was lying around. Judges 15: 14-17

Answer: Jonah

God sent Jonah to the city Nineveh (Iraq) to give the people there a chance to repent of their wicked ways but he did not want to go and so he took a ship that was going to Tarshish. Due to his disobedience God sent a tempest at sea and the ship was in great difficulty. Finally the casting of lots pointed to Jonah as the reason for the bad weather and they threw him overboard. God sent a large fish (called a whale by most) and it swallowed him and vomited him on dry land. Jonah then went on to Nineveh where he preached to the people and they repented. Jonah 1-3.

Answer: Moses

Moses was the man who saw the burning bush and as he went closer to gaze at the unbelievable sight, God spoke to him and informed him of His plan to send him to free the Israelites that were in bondage in Egypt. Moses was truly afraid but God told him that He was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and that He would be with him during the process of what became the well known story of "The Exodus." Exodus 3:1-12

Answer: Herodias

Herodias disliked the prophet John and wanted him dead because he had condemned her marriage to Herod. At the occasion of the king's birthday celebration, the princess danced her famous dance "The dance of the seven veils" before the king and he promised to give her a gift of her choice.

Herodias used this opportunity to seek her revenge and prompted her daughter to ask for the head of John the baptist. This made the king sad but he had given his word and so had no choice but to fulfill his promise. Matthew 14:1-12.

Answer: Belshazzar

Belshazzar like his father was proud and haughty; he had no regard for God. He used the sacred cups of the Lord's temple to serve wine at his feast and so God sent him a message written with unseen hands telling him that his kingdom would be taken from him. That same night he was slain and his kingdom was captured by the Medes and the Persians. Daniel 5:1-7,18-31.

Answer: Lot

Two angels were sent by God to warn Lot and his family of God's plan to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The angel told them to leave the city quickly and that under no circumstances should any of them look back, but Lot's wife did and she was turned into a pillar of salt. Genesis 19: 1, 17-26.

Answer: David

King Saul was jealous of David (a young soldier at the time) because of his popularity with the people. He offered to give him his daughter as a wife thinking that she would be a snare to him but then he decided that he might be killed whilst trying to obtain the bride's price from the Philistines (which was one hundred foreskins). David went out and brought him back a dowry of two hundred foreskins, twice the price of becoming the king's son-in-law. 1 Samuel 18:17-27.

Answer: Nimrod - Babel

Nimrod the great grandson of Noah was a mighty hunter before God, a mighty man who built many cities; everyone wanted to be like him. The people of Iraq (as it is known today) wanted to build a monument in memory of themselves, a tower that would reach heaven, but this was an affront to God and He interrupted their building plans by changing the one universal language they had into several different languages.

They got so confused and frustrated that the project was abandoned. The tower was called "Babel," meaning confusion. Genesis 10:8-12; 11:1-9.

Answer: Belteshazzar

The satraps of the land were jealous of Belteshazzar (Daniel) because the king liked him and placed him in a high position in his government. They hatched up a plot to have him killed but it backfired and they ended up being eaten by the lions that refused to attack Belteshazzar.

The story goes on to say that the king was sad about the situation but he had already signed the decree (not knowing the reason behind it) and Daniel or Belteshazzar had to be placed in the lions den for praying openly to his God.

The king fasted all night on Daniel's behalf and early the next day he was relieved to find out that he was alive and well. He then made a decree that Daniel's God was the true God and should be feared and worshiped by all. Daniel 1:6-7; 6:10-28.

Answer: serpent

Eve listened to a serpent who told her that God was incorrect when He told her that she would die if she ate of the tree of life. It told her that she would be like God and so she ate the forbidden fruit and shared it with Adam her husband. They were then banished from the garden and he was punished with hard labour and she with labour pains. Genesis 3:1-24.

Answer: Cana

When the wine ran out at a wedding feast, Jesus turned water into wine and asked the servants to take some to the master of ceremonies. When he tasted the wine (he did not know of the miracle) he exclaimed "This is wonderful stuff! you are different" he said, "usually one serves the best wine at the beginning but you have kept the best for last!"
