1. Where are the majority of the body's bones located?

Answer: Hands and feet

Your hands and feet together contain 106 bones. This means over half of the bones in your body are located in your hands and feet.
2. What is the primary function of yellow bone marrow?

Answer: Stores fat

Yellow bone marrow is a storage area of fat (lipids). At birth most of the bone marrow is red, but with age, more and more of the red bone marrow is converted to yellow bone marrow. About 50% of adult bone marrow is yellow.
3. What is the medical abbreviation for the skull?

Answer: Crani/o

Your skull can be referred as your cranium. Oste/o refers to your bones. Cost/o refers to your ribs. Chondr/o refers to your cartilage.
4. What is the medical abbreviation for curved/bent?

Answer: Scoli/o

Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the back. Spondyl/o refers to your vertebrae. Synovi/o refers to your synovial membrane. Your synovial membrane is soft tissue found within synovial joints
5. What is the definition of arthritis?

Answer: An inflammatory condition of one or more joints

The medical suffix for 'itis' is inflammation. The surgical loosening of an ankylosed joint is called arthrolysis. Arthralgia is joint pain. The partial displacement of a bone from its joint is called subluxation.
6. What is the common name for the scapula?

Answer: Shoulder blade

The sternum is the medical term for the breastbone. The clavicle is the medical term for the collar bone. The patella is the medical term for the knee.
7. How many cervical vertebrae are in the human body?

Answer: 7

The cervical vertebrae are located in the neck. They are the first 7 vertebrae in the human body. An easy way to remember the number of vertebrae in the body is this saying: you eat breakfast at 7 (cervical), lunch at 12 (thoracic), and dinner at 5 (lumbar).
8. What is the definition of a fracture in which the bone has been twisted apart?

Answer: Spiral fracture

A compression fracture is when the bone is pressed together on itself. An oblique fracture is when the fracture occurs at an angle to the bone. A greenstick fracture is when a bone is bent but only partially broken and is also known as an incomplete fracture.
9. What is chondroma?

Answer: A slow growing benign tumor derived from cartilage cells

Chondromas are often left best untreated, unless they cause a bone fracture by expanding a bone. Chondromalacia is the abnormal softening of cartilage. Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the sternum. Myeloma is a type of cancer that occurs in blood making cells.
10. What is the medical name for the shinbone?

Answer: Tibia

The tibia is your shinbone, while the fibula is the other bone in your lower leg. A very common mistake is calling them the fibia and tibula.
