Argentina scored seven tries in their easy victory.

Fullback Latham scored five tries, only one short of the World Cup record by Marc Ellis, who scored 6 against Japan in 1995. Giteau and Tuqiri scored three each

Ronan O'Gara kicked a conversion and 2 penalty goals and Brian O'Driscoll a dropped goal for Ireland. Australia topped Pool A with 18 points, followed by Ireland with 15. Argentina (11), Romania (5) and Namibia (0) were eliminated.
