Opened in 2007, Prudential Center is located in Newark, New Jersey, which was where Prudential Financial was founded in 1875. Unlike the Devils' former home, known at that time as Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, Prudential Center boasted excellent access to public transit.

The Devils' first opponent at the Prudential Center, the Ottawa Senators, was also the last team they played in the Meadowlands.

Canadian Airlines served as the building's first corporate sponsor from 1996 to 2000, and relinquished sponsorship after being acquired by Air Canada.

In addition to being the home of the Flames, the Saddledome also played host to ice hockey and figure skating events when Calgary hosted the Winter Olympics in 1988.

Opened as Anaheim Arena in 1993, Honda Center was known as Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim until 2006. Arrowhead Water was the building's original title sponsor. In the Ducks' first two visits to the Stanley Cup Finals, in 2003 and 2007, they won every Finals game played in the building. Honda Center has also served as a second home for the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA, and sits across the street from Angels Stadium of Anaheim, home to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Major League Baseball.

Opened as Kiel Center in 1994, Scottrade took over title sponsorship of the building from Savvis in 2006. Scottrade Center replaced the St. Louis Arena as the home of the Blues in 1994. The facility also played host to the NCAA Women's Final Four in 2001 and 2009 and has served as host to the Missouri Valley Conference's men's basketball tournament.

Replacing the historic Montreal Forum as the home of the Canadiens, Bell Centre opened in 1996 as Molson Centre. Bell Canada took over the naming rights in 2002, after Molson sold the team. Bell Centre is one of the busiest arenas of its type in the world, hosting everything from WWE and UFC matches to musical concerts.

In addition to flying the banners of hall-of-fame hockey stars like Maurice "The Rocket" Richard and Ken Dryden, the facility also paid homage to the Montreal Expos of Major League Baseball, hosting a single banner to honor stars Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines and Rusty Staub after the team left for Washington.

Opened as Glendale Arena in 2003, Jobing.com Arena replaced America West Arena (later US Airways Arena) as the second home of the Coyotes after their move from Winnipeg. The team moved to its own arena because America West Arena was designed primary for basketball - the building's primary tenant was the Phoenix Suns of the NBA - and configuration of the arena for basketball led to some obstructed seating.

The Coyotes shared Jobing.com arena with the Arizona Sting of the National Lacross League from 2003 to 2007.

Opened as the Ice Palace in 1996, the St. Pete Times Forum was the third home of the Tampa Bay Lightning franchise. Immediately before playing at the Forum, the Lightning played their home games at the Thunderdome (later known as Tropicana Field). The Forum also served as the site of two different ArenaBowl contests (the championship game of the Arena Football League) and as the site of the 2007 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament.

The St. Petersburg Times was the most prolific daily paper in the Tampa Bay area, ahead of The Tampa Tribune.

The Maple Leafs played their home games at Maple Leaf Gardens from 1931 to 1999, before moving to Air Canada Centre.
