From Quiz
The New Jersey Devils

Answer: Mike Rupp

Mike Rupp played for the Trashers for a few games during the lockout of 2004-05. Brylin, Madden, and Andreychuk never played for the Danbury Trashers during their two year history, 2004-05 and 2005-06.

2. Who scored the first hat trick in New Jersey Devils history?

From Quiz Devils: Before They Were Champions

The day was December 3, 1982, and opponent to the Hartford Whalers. In front of the home crowd, Tambellini put three pucks past goaltender Greg Millen for the first hat trick in Devils history, coming in their 29th regular season game as a team. The Devils won the game 5-4. Bobby MacMillan would go on to score the second and third hat tricks in team history, and neither Lever nor Marini would ever put three pucks in net in one game for the Devils.

3. What was the name of the 1995 line that featured Bobby Holik at center, and Mike Peluso and Randy McKay as wingers?

From Quiz Devils: The Glory Years

Answer: The Crash Line

Big, dominant, and not afraid to hit or be hit, the Crash Line was an important part of the Devils first Stanley Cup win. Holik and Peluso would play in all 20 games (McKay missed one). The trio would combine for 23 points (nine goals, 10 assists) and would notch three game winners en route to that first Cup championship.

10. What do John Madden and Brian Rafalski have in common?

From Quiz Devils: The Glory Years

Answer: Neither one was drafted by an NHL team

Madden attended the University of Michigan while Rafalski went to the University of Wisconsin. While Rafalski had always been in the top 10 Devils' scorers, Madden finished 13th in 1999-2000. And while Rafalski made his NHL debut in the 1999-2000 season, Madden had played four games the previous year. In my opinion, teams everywhere should be kicking themselves for not drafting these guys. Madden was a Selke Trophy winner and was a threat to score every time he's on the penalty kill. Rafalski was an All-Star and was a great offensive defenseman who added spark to the power play.

27. After making the playoffs for 13 straight seasons, the Devils missed the playoffs for the 2010-11 season. How many points did they score through the season (note: points are how teams are ranked in the NHL, goals are the difference in games)?

From Quiz The New Jersey Devils

Answer: 81

174 is the number of goals the Devils scored that season, 82 is the number of games they played, and 38 is the amount of games the Devils won. That leaves 81 which is obviously the amount of points scored. The way the points system works in the NHL is you get 2 points for any win and 1 point for any loss in overtime or shootout. 76 of the Devils 81 points came from wins, the remaining 5 points came from loses in OT or shootout. This was the least amount of points they have scored in a single season since 1990-91 when they scored 79 pts, except for the lockout shortened 1994-95 season where they won their first Stanley Cup.
