Answer: 1924 in France

In 1901, Sweden held the first multi-sport event called the Nordic Games. Figure skating was first performed in the summer Olympics held in London in 1908. Answer: Dorothy Hamill

Dorothy Hamill was born in 1954. She was both the Olympic and World Champion in 1976. After competing from the age of 12, she immediately went professional after the 1976 Olympics and never competed again at the Olympic level. They both became professionals after the Olympics. In 1993, the International Skating Union relaxed the rules for professional skaters, allowing the pair to participate in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, where they won a bronze medal.

Answer: Oksana Baiul

Baiul was the 1993 World Champion. She has been the only female skater, representing the Ukraine through 2010, to win the gold medal. Baiul was only 16 at the time she won the Olympic gold medal. She had a rotten family life and lived with her coaches in Canada and in the USA.

After her win, she returned to the Ukraine. Figure skating wasn't a high priority in her country after the break up of the Soviet Union. Baiul went professional right away to get away from her poverty-torn life.
