Answer: 1986

With only two cars, two engines, and two crew members, he not only made it in Winston Cup, he became "Rookie of the Year"!
2. Where did Kulwicki win his 1992 Winston Cup Championship?

Answer: Atlanta

He won it on Nov, 7, 1992, at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Hooters' 500. He came from 278 points behind in the final six races to take the championship from Bill Elliott by 10 points because he picked up 10 bonus points for leading the most laps.
3. What was Kulwicki's nickname for his #7 Hooters' Thunderbird?

Answer: The Underbird

He called it the Underbird because he was understaffed, underfunded, and under appreciated. The AK team got permission from Ford to drop the T-H from Thunderbird on the front spoiler.

Kulwicki had sold most of his belongings to make this trip, and an electrical short did indeed burn up his truck, trailer, and his remaining belongings.

It was in his 85th start in the Checker 500 in Phoenix, AZ, in 1988. He drove his victory lap in the wrong direction to the delight of his loyal fans.

Answer: Junior Johnson

In 1991, Kulwicki turned Johnson down. The very next year in 1992, he beat Johnson's driver, Bill Elliott, to become the Winston Cup Champion!

Andrews was crew chief for all five of Kulwicki's victories. He later helped Jeremy Mayfield and Steve Park score their first win.

Kulwicki died on his way to Bristol. He was leaving a public relations meeting in Knoxville, TN.
