Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The original founders of the Green Bay Packers were Curly Lambeau and George Calhoun?

Answer: True

In 1919, Earl Curly Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun were former high school football rivals that founded the Green Bay Packers. Lambeau worked for the Indian Packing Company and the company sponsored the team by providing uniforms and equipment. Hence the name, Packers.
2. What year did the Packers join the American Professional Football Association?

Answer: 1921

The American Professional Football Association was started in 1920, then changed to the APFL in 1921, the year the Packers joined. The team is not a charter member but it is one of the oldest.
3. Who was the Packer quarterback that was named Super Bowl I MVP?

Answer: Bart Starr

Bart led them to three NFL Championships in 1961, 1962 and 1965 and two Super Bowl wins (I & II). He also received Super Bowl MVP honors twice (I & II). He played his entire career of sixteen seasons with the Packers then went on to coach them from 1975-1983. He was inducted into the Class of 1977 Pro Football Hall of Fame.
4. What was the home stadium of the Packers in their first year joining the APFL?

Answer: Hagemeister Park

Hagemeister Park was home for two seasons, then the team moved to Bellevue Park for 2 seasons. After Bellevue, they moved to City Stadium, where they remained thirty-two seasons. "New" City Stadium, later named Lambeau Field in 1965, became home in 1957.
5. The Green Bay Packers were acquired by the Lambeau family in 2007.

Answer: False

The Green Bay Packers are a publicly owned, not public traded, company with over 100,000 stockholders and a board of directors. They do not have the typical "team owner" like the rest of the NFL teams. Some think this is why the Packers have remained in Green Bay over the years, especially since Green Bay is not an extremely large city.
6. Including the Championship wins prior to the AFL-NFL merger, which Super Bowl gave the Packers their 12th Championship title?

Answer: XXXI

After the Super Bowl XXXI Championship win, the Packers had the record for the most NFL championships of any team with 12. The game was held January 26, 1997, at the Louisiana Superdome vs the New England Patriots.
7. Who was Super Bowl XXXI MVP?

Answer: Desmond Howard

Desmond Howard was the first kick/punt returner to win the MVP honors. He scored a 99-yard kickoff return that clinched the game vs the Patriots.
8. What was Earl Curly Lambeau's regular season winning percentage with the Packers?

Answer: 0.626

Earl Lambeau's regular season win-loss record with the Packer's was 209-104-21 (.626 winning percent), and 3-2 in the playoffs. Lambeau coached for the Chicago Cardinals and the Washington Redskins after the Packers. His overall winning percentage was .595. He was inducted into the inaugural class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.
9. By what nickname are Packer fans known as?

Answer: Cheeseheads

You can often see Packers fans at games wearing a cheesehead hat, which looks like a big slice of holey cheese. The nickname refers to the state of Wiconsin in general due to the cheese production. It originally started as an insult from baseball's White Sox fans at a Brewers game, but the Green Bay "cheeseheads" adopted it as their own.
10. Who was the coach of the Packers when they won the first-ever Super Bowl?

Answer: Vince Lombardi

Although all were Green Bay coaches, Vince Lombardi coached the Packers nine seasons, 1959-1967, and won five NFL Championships, including the two Super Bowls (I, II). His win-loss record with the Packers was 98-30-4.
