Ford was one of the top scorers in the nation. Ford averaged 25 points a game and left Mississippi Valley State with 3165 points, trailing only Pete Maravich, Freeman Williams, and Lionel Simmons. Mississippi Valley State is a member of the Southwest Athletic Conference, a US college conference comprised of historically African-American institutions.
