"The Great White Shark" was born in Mt Isa, northern Queensland. He turned professional in 1976 winning his first official title. Between 1978 and 1996 he won over 28 official titles including the Australian Open and the Australian Masters and in 1999 he became the first player on the PGA Tour to exceed $12m in prize money.

Susie Maroney, who resides in the Sutherland Shire (south of Sydney), began her swimming career at the age of three, to help her asthma. At 15, she was the youngest Australian to swim the English Channel.

It was the 65th series of The Ashes and Allan Border captained the Australians for the 19th time in the First Test held in Brisbane. Born in Cremorne (Sydney), he debuted at test match level in 1978, was named Cricketer of the Year in 1982 and played his last test in 1994.
