Baseball Music Trivia Quiz

This is my first quiz. I wanted to do a music quiz, but there were so many of those that I decided to do a baseball one instead. I wonder if music trivia buffs may do better with this quiz than baseball fans.

1. Louisville Slugger is probably the most famous brand of baseball bats. Who owns a Louisville Slugger guitar?

Answer: John Fogerty

John Fogerty uses this guitar when he performs 'Centerfield' in concert.
2. What baseball player appears in Paul Simon's video 'Me and Julio down by the Schoolyard'?

Answer: Mickey Mantle

Paul Simon grew up a fan of Mickey Mantle. He originally wanted to put Mickey Mantle's name in the song 'Mrs. Robinson' but had to settle for Joe DiMaggio because it scanned better. The video was filmed with Paul Simon pitching and Mickey Mantle batting. Simon is left handed and Mantle should have been batting right handed since he switch hit and would have batted that way in a normal game.

However, Mantle had arthritis pain swinging right handed and so batted left handed against Simon in the video.
3. In the Gary US Bonds song 'School is Out' what team will he root for from the bleachers?

Answer: Yankees

4. At the end of the extended version of the Bruce Springsteen video 'Glory Days' what team does the father imagine that he is pitching against when he talks to his kid?

Answer: San Diego Padres

Most times that this video is shown, the scene is cut. I think that this scene is the best part of the whole video.

Answer: San Diego Padres

Garth was signed as an non-roster invitee to a minor league contract. Keep the night job, Garth. You hit below the Mendoza Line.

Answer: Boys of Summer

Both the book title and the song title are probably based on a line from a Dylan Thomas poem.

Answer: Madonna

8. In the musical 'Damn Yankees' the main character, Joe, is a fan of which baseball team?

Answer: Washington Senators

9. The character Katie Casey appears in the lyrics of which song?

Answer: Take Me out to the Ballgame

The lyrics that everyone sings during the seventh inning stretch is just the chorus of the original song written in 1909 by Jack Norworth. The original version had verses about a fictional person, Katie Casey, who asked her suitor to ... Take me out to the ballgame ...
10. Who first sang the line: 'Rounding third and headed for home it was a brown-eyed handsome man'?

Answer: Chuck Berry

In 1958, Chuck Berry's song 'Brown-eyed Handsome Man' contained the verse: Three-two count in the bottom of the ninth, And he hit one into the stands, And rounding third, and headed for home. 'It was a brown-eyed handsome man' John Fogerty's line from 'Centerfield' is probably a reference to this song.
