Answer: Shane Crawford

Shane Crawford played 305 games for Hawthorn and it was in his last game for the club that he played in a Premiership team. All the Guinness World Records occurred during broadcasts of "The Footy Show". Kevin Murray played 333 games for Fitzroy, Dick Reynolds 320 games for Essendon, and Don Cordner played 166 games for Melbourne. Don also had 3 brothers (Denis, John and Ted) who played for Melbourne.

Answer: Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson was only 20 when he won the Brownlow in 1982, yet he had played at Footscray (9 games) and North Melbourne (39 games) before winning as a Melbourne player. He finished with 154 games at Melbourne before playing another 7 games at St. Kilda. Barry Round and Gerard Healey both played for 2 clubs, and Greg Williams played for 3 clubs but it was at his 2nd and 3rd clubs that he won his 2 Brownlow Medals.

Roy Gazaly played for South Melbourne and Herbie also coached the Swans. He was also named to their "Team of the Century". Stan Judkins played 133 games for Richmond, Norm Ware 200 games for Footscray, and Denis Ryan 70 games for Fitzroy.

Gordon Collis played 95 games for Carlton and kicked 40 goals. Scott Wynd as a ruckman played 237 games for Footscray. His father and brother also played VFL football. Verdun Howell played 159 games for St. Kilda and actually started his career on the half-forward flank, but made his name as a dashing half-back and full back. Len Thompson played 270 games for Collingwood, 20 for South Melbourne, and 13 for Fitzroy all as a ruckman.

Wilfred "Chicken" Smallhorn organised the matches mentioned and the best player for the season won the "Changi Brownlow". The final in 1942 attracted 10,000 spectators. He also played in that Fitzroy side of the 1930s that boasted 3 Brownlow medalists (Bunton and Ryan the other 2). Marcus Whelan played 173 games for Collingwood and was also an ex-serviceman. Bill Morris started his career in Melbourne Seconds, joined the army, and later joined Richmond where he played 140 games.

The Brownlow was the last to be introduced in 1924. The oldest being the Magarey Medal(1898), then the Sandover Medal(1921), and then the Recorder Cup (1923) which was later renamed the J.J. Liston Trophy.

Ivor Warne-Smith won 2 Brownlows and played 146 games for Melbourne. Colin Watson was the second medalist in 1925 and played 93 games for St. Kilda. Syd Coventry served in WWI and played 227 games for Collingwood. He captained Collingwood in their four consecutive Premierships from 1927-1930.

Edward "Carji" Greeves was given his nickname by the NSW Golfer, Michael Scott, after he had seen "Carjillo, the Rajah of Bong", a popular play of the day. Bernie Smith was the next Geelong player to win the medal in 1951, 27 years after "Garji" became the 1st winner. Alan Ruthven was known as "The Baron" due to his dapper dress sense of the day. Nathan Buckley was 24 years after Peter Moore won the medal in 1979 while playing for Collingwood. Robert Harvey won the medal 10 years after Tony "Plugger" Lockett won for St. Kilda in 1987.

The nickname "plugger" was handed down from his grandfather, to father to Tony.

Peter Box played 107 bgames for Footscray, and the baseball demonstration was during the Melbourne Olympics in 1956. He mainly played in the centre but on Footscray's 1954 Premiership team he played at centre half-forward. Neil Roberts played 169 games for St. Kilda and was the Officer in Charge of Mawson Base, Antarctica from 1971-73. John James played 195 games for Carlton.

In his debut season at Carlton on the half-forward flank, he kicked 8 goals 43 behinds. Thank goodness he found his true position on ther half-back flank. Brian Gleeson played 71 games for St. Kilda before a tragic knee injury ended his career. Gleeson and James played on the same school team while attending St. Patrick's College, Ballarat.
