Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For high school and junior high teams, when is a triple base extended straddle lift legal?

Answer: It is legal with a back spotter.

This is a simple stunt, but since the middle base is directly supporting the flyer's weight, an additional spotter is required.
2. For high school and junior high teams, which of the following tumbling passes is illegal?

Answer: round off, back handspring, double full

Double fulls are permitted in some all-star divisions and at the college level.
3. What is the most important tip for a flyer to remember?

Answer: stay tight

Flyers must stay tight and aligned for a stunt to be safe and successful. If a flyer looks at the ground, sticks out his or her butt, or goes limp, the bases can't balance the stunt properly.
4. For high school and junior high teams, heel stretch tick tocks are illegal.

Answer: True

Again, these are allowed for some all star divisions and in college.
5. Which of the following does not refer to a position, where the cheerleader's legs are straight and together?

Answer: Double 9

In the Double 9 jump, one leg is bent.
6. A high school cheerleader is doing a ball out basket toss. She rides up straight, pulls into a tight tuck, points her toes and throws her head back into the arch, and cradles. Which of the following statements is true?

Answer: This is illegal because she throws her head back

Often penalties are incurred by flyers who flick their head back in a toss. The flyer's head must stay aligned with the body, even as the back and legs take on the arched position.
7. Which of the following spotter positions for an extended stunt is NOT legal?

Answer: Supporting the bases' hands under the weight of the flyer

Spotters must not help support the weight of the flyer. They may only stabilize or watch to ensure it is steady.
8. Which of the following is a legal mount into a stunt?

Answer: all of the above

These are all legal when executed properly.
9. Which of the following is NOT a legal dismount from a stunt?

Answer: squat down

I don't know of a move called a squat down, I made it up.
10. What is the minimum number of bases (including spotters), needed to execute and cradle an extended stunt?

Answer: 2

For a single-based extended stunt, you also need a head and shoulders spotter to cradle.
