The speed rating is how many fifths of a second a horse ran off the track record for the previous three years. The record being 100. The second figure is the track variant. This is how many fifths of a second ALL horses ran off the record for that day.

For example, a horse runs a mile in 1:36 and 2/5 seconds with the record being 1:36. This gives him a rating of 98. If this were the only horse to run at the distance the variant would be 2. 98-02
5. You may see 6f on the page. What does the 'f' stand for?

Answer: furlong

A furlong is an 1/8 of a mile.
6. What does an 'x' with an oval around it mean?

Answer: taken off the turf

7. What racetrack does TuP stand for?

Answer: Turf Paradise
