Edmund Kealoha Parker was born in Hawaii (March 19, 1931),and died in Honolulu of a heart attack (December 15, 1990).

The founder of Kenpo Karate was not actually Ed Parker but his instructor, Professor William Kwai Suin Chow, who began calling his system "Kenpo Karate". Chow trained by the Great Grand Master James Mitose(in "Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu") who had learned the art of Kenpo Karate in Japan from his grandfather, Sakuhi Yoshida. Ed Parker created his own system (Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate) by adding many innovations in the traditional Kenpo Karate and it's techniques style.
