Answer: False

Unlike the horse gymnasts used to (and sometimes still do) use, the vaulting table is set up the same for men and women.
2. What woman won gold in vault at both the 2000 Olympics and 2002 World Championships?

Answer: Elena Zamolotchickova

Elena is a very good vaulter. In 2001 Khorkina won vault.
3. Which of these vaults would a gymnast learn last?

Answer: half on,half off

Of the remaining vaults squat on is the easiest, followed by squat through and finally the front handspring. A half on, half off is a quarter turn in handstand onto the horse, followed by a quarter turn of the horse.

Answer: Yurchenko

It is named for Natalia Yurchenko.

Answer: Elena Piskun

Thought I would throw in something a little more challenging.
6. What score did Mary Lou Retton need on vault to win (without a tie)the 1984 Olympics?

Answer: 10.00

Mary Lou was not the favorite to win the 1984 Olympics Etkaterania Szabo was. However, flaws by Szabo and tens by Mary Lou in floor and vault allowed her to win.
7. Why do you sometimes see a u-shaped mat surrounding the vault?

Answer: For if a gymnast misses their feet on a Yurchenko style vault.

If a gymnast misses the vault of a Yurchenko it gives them something to push off of. This helps to minimize injuries.

Simona Aminar actually competed in vault finals in the 2000 Sydney Olympics as well. She tried a difficult 2 1/2 twisting Yurchenko there which cost her.
9. What was unusual about the vault in the 2000 Sydney Olympics?

Answer: In the women's all around final it was set at the wrong height.

Between the vault fiasco, the Radican disqualification fiasco, and a large number of falls I found the 2000 Olympics quite disappointing.
10. Which of these vaults has the highest start value in elite competition?

Answer: Yurchenko double full

A double full is a 9.8 start value.

That was kind of a give away.

Made for great television coverage.

She did it during the 1976 Montreal, the same Olympics where Nadia scored the first ten ever.
