Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1990

Answer: Manchester United

The 1990 FA Cup final was played on Saturday 12 May at Wembley Stadium in London. Manchester United and Crystal Palace drew 3-3 after extra time and so the match had to be replayed. The replay took place on Wednesday 17 May 1990, again at Wembley Stadium. Manchester United won 1-0 to claim their seventh victory in the competition.

It has been alleged that Sir Alex Ferguson, manager of Manchester United since 1986, would have been fired if United had not won the cup, as he had failed to win any trophies since joining the club. Ferguson eventually went on to win a total of 38 trophies, including 13 league championships, before retiring in 2013.
2. 1991

Answer: Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur won the competition for the eigth time in their history with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. At the time, there seemed to be a belief that Tottenham always won a trophy in a year ending with "1". They won the FA Cup in 1901, 1921, 1961, 1971, 1981 and 1991.

They were also crowned English league champions in 1951 and 1961. The 1990 FA Cup final was played on 18 May at Wembley Stadium in London.
3. 1992

Answer: Liverpool

Sunderland were the first team from outside the top division in England to reach the final since QPR in 1982. Liverpool won the match 2-0 to claim their fifth FA Cup title. The 1992 FA Cup final was played on 9 May at Wembley Stadium in London.
4. 1993

Answer: Arsenal

The 1993 FA Cup final was played on Saturday 15th May at Wembley Stadium in London. Arsenal met Sheffield Wednesday -- the same two sides who had met in the League Cup final earlier in the season which Arsenal had won. The FA Cup final resulted in a 1-1 draw, however, and went to a replay on Thursday 20th May, again held at Wembley Stadium. Arsenal won the replay 2-1 after extra-time.

This was the last final to go to a replay, with the FA ruling in 1999 that any future finals, which ended in a draw aet, would go to penalties instead.

This was also the first FA Cup final to use squad numbers, as previously players on both teams had been numbered with the traditional 1-11.
5. 1994

Answer: Manchester United

Manchester United, already league champions, completed the double with a resounding 4-0 win over Chelsea. This was the first time United had completed the league and FA Cup double, a feat they would go on to achieve again in the 1990s. The 1994 FA Cup final was played on 14 May at Wembley Stadium in London.
6. 1995

Answer: Everton

Manchester United faced Everton in a rematch of the 1985 FA Cup final, which United had won 1-0. That match was notable for United's Kevin Moran becoming the first player to be sent off in an FA Cup final. Manchester United had lost out on the 1995 Premier League title the previous week, and went into the FA Cup as strong favourites.

Despite dominating the attack, Everton, especially goalkeeper Neville Southall, held strong and won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Paul Rideout. The 1995 FA Cup final was played on 20 May 1995 at Wembley Stadium in London.
7. 1996

Answer: Manchester United

The 1996 FA Cup final was played on 11 May at Wembley Stadium in London. Manchester United, who had already won the league championship, completed the double with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool, with Eric Cantona scoring a late goal in an otherwise tense game.

The final is perhaps best remembered for the Liverpool players wearing matching cream-coloured Armani suits during the pre-match build-up, causing the UK media to dub the relatively young team the "Spice Boys".
8. 1997

Answer: Chelsea

The 1997 FA Cup final was played on 17 May at Wembley Stadium in London. Chelsea won only their second FA Cup trophy with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough, who had also lost in the League Cup final that year. The match was notable for Roberto Di Matteo scoring the opening goal after only 42 seconds, the fastest goal ever in a Wembley final; a record which was beaten in 2009 when Louis Saha scored against Chelsea after 25 seconds. Depite reaching both FA Cup and League Cup finals that season, Middlesbrough were relegated from the Premier League due to controversially being deducted 3 points for failing to fulfil a league fixture.
9. 1998

Answer: Arsenal

The 1998 FA Cup final was played on 16 May at Wembley Stadium in London. Arsenal claimed the FA Cup for the seventh time in their history with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United. Arsenal had already won the league championship that season.
10. 1999

Answer: Manchester United

The 1999 FA Cup final was played on 22 May at Wembley Stadium in London. Newcastle United, beaten finalists in 1998, were beaten again, this time by Manchester United, with Manchester United winning 2-0 to add the FA Cup to the Premier League title they had won the year before.

They went on to add the UEFA Champions League just 4 days later to become the first team in England to achieve this treble.
