A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Steven Stipanovich was named the Big Eight Newcomer of the Year in his first year at Mizzou. As a senior he was chosen as the Big Eight Player of the Year. Selected by the Indiana Pacers, he was the second overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft, and chosen for the NBA Rookie Team in 1984. "Stipo" played for the Pacers from 1983-88 and was eventually forced to retire due to knee problems

From St. Louis, Missouri, during his time at Mizzou Kellen Winslow was voted All Big 8 twice and an All- American in 1978. He was chosen as a first round draft by the San Diego Chargers in 1979, playing tight end for the team until his retirement in 1987. In 1995 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; in 2002 he became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Chase Daniel, raised in Irving, Texas, became the backup quarterback for the Mizzou Tigers in 2005; the following year he was the starting quarterback for the team. In 2007 he earned the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Award - the first Missouri player to do so, and led the Tigers to a win at the Cotton Bowl, as well as being a finalist in the Heisman Trophy voting.

A backup quarterback for Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints for the 2010-2012 seasons, Daniel was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV Championship team and returned to play for the Saints again for the 2017 season.

Born in Shelby County, Missouri, Norman Stewart not only played basketball and baseball at the University of Missouri, he also came back to coach basketball there. After being chosen as a 1956 Helms Foundation All-American, he played professionally for one season for the St. Louis Hawks. During his tenure as head basketball coach at Mizzou from 1967-1999, he led the Tigers to eight Big Eight Conference regular season championships, was named UPI Coach of the Year in 1982, and was the Associated Press Coach of the Year in 1994. From New Point, Missouri, Roger Wehrli was a two time All-Big 8 player during his stay at the University of Missouri. A cornerback, Wehrli was also chosen as Big 8 Defensive Player of the Year his senior year. His entire professional career, that included 40 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns, was with the St. Louis Cardinals.

In 2007 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Paul Christman was the starting quarterback at Mizzou for three seasons. In 1940 he threw more touchdown passes than any other college player; he continued to be the leading passer at Mizzou until his record was broken in 1976. From 1945-50 he played for two professional teams - The Chicago Cardinals, who were the 1947 NFL Champs, and the Green Bay Packers. Christmas was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1956.
